small room big space

I live in a terraced house and have an iregular shaped lounge and a small kitchen no room for dining table how can I design my lounge or kitchen to have an eating area

Hi Sam, The obvious comment is not to go too dark. Don't be scared to go for big tiles. We use big tiles in all our projects and in the showroom and doesn't effect it what so ever. I believe the bigger the better as there is less grout lines (and less to clean then). Maybe think about going for rectangle tiles for the floor and brick bind them. This way the grout lines can be positioned to make the room feel longer (like the picture I've attached). Please feel free to contact me if you want more advise on tile combinations. Art such as canvases often need space around them to create impact, if you're struggling for space to give around the image, why not make the whole wall into an image? this offers maximum impact by using the wall as a whole, without worrying about the space surrounding it :) -Dan www.pictowall.co.uk

You cannot beat a good rest when you awake to a beautiful view or picture rather than wardrobes or clothes hanging from them. So the walk in wardrobe for me. Just completed my extension and it was on my wish list. Now seen new project so will miss walk in but planned to have both as struggling to relax with washing machine going.

Hi Jade. The room is small and it is also the walkway to the back f the house, which further obstruct its functionality. If you are keen to keep the living room separated from the kitchen, then your furniture layout is probably the only way to go. I would advise you to consider taking down the wall to the kitchen and create an open plan. It will make the space feel spacious and you might even consider a different layout: Place the kitchen at the rear on the right wall, place your lounge on the opposite wall facing the kitchen, put a room-dividing furniture in between with the TV inside and place the dining table where the lounge is now. You can get a really contemporary looking comfortable space. Yes, a layout would be great.

I assume there's no space in the kitchen for anything else? (What is that appliance doing there in the doorway?)

And how many people live in your household?

As adismom said, the sofa arms take up a lot of valuable space. If you had a style with slimmer arms, it would really help.
