Can pvc sliding doors ever look good?
Comments (19)Hi Justin, thank you for taking the time to reply to our query. It is difficult to compare systems because Deceuninck have not published very much technical information about that specific product on their website, but whilst in general terms uPVC may be able to perform fractionally better for U-values than aluminium (it depends on the system), our experience is that with slide and swing doors the weather rating (water tightness, air permeability and wind loading) tend to be much lower. I would also query the information you were given about security. The reason I say that is I cannot find any reference to their slide & swing doors having been tested to PAS24 standards (Building Regs Doc Q) or Secured by Design award standards. The technology of slide and swing doors is developing quickly, but it is starting from nearly 25 years behind bifold doors so will take some time to catch up - that said they are moving along quickly and in certain circumstances offer an alternative to bifold doors. Good luck with your project!...See MoreWhat colours; door, door frame and Lintel above door

Comments (24)I think we actually have a larger gap than you do! Definitely get sound leakage, however tbh we don't shut them that often. We have a brush edging between the frame and the doors on both sides, but not between the doors themselves. I think the issue would be attaching it now that the doors are in (unless you can take the doors off easily still. as it'd either need to be at the front edge of the door that stays nearest the walls, or the back of the one that meet in the middle. Definitely worth trying to add if you're able to. other thing to consider if sound insulation is very important, we had the handles.. we had the finger pulls that sit on the ends of the doors? but i'm not entirely sure if it's just how they were inserted, but they dont sit 100% flush, meaning when shut there's a slight gap in the middle as well. We said about trying to change it, to get them more flush, but they'd have essentially damaged the doors trying to pry them out by that point! 🤦🏻♀️...See MoreWhat colour door and door frame would you go for
Comments (9)Hi Mally, From the image it looks like your house has soft mud bricks on the exterior. Bricks have a dominant character in nature. They may steal the focus point at glance from your front door. Deep-tone coloured doors complements brick I would advise to have white or same colour shaded windows and door frames. Dark shades can be elegant, welcoming colors . Additional tip , you might consider carrying the same style to the garage door. As it will create a design flow throughout the front view.
