Can I ask where the wall tiles are from in the kitchen? Are the available in the uk?

How about a simple shelf like this: https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/harvey-jones-shaker-kitchens-country-kitchen-london-phvw-vp~20754960 It would suit the character of the kitchen and I think tiles would be nicer than the stainless steel which is not the easiest to clean! What about something Morrocan to make it a feature? You could just have a few amongst plainer tiles if you didn't want the whole lot to be feature tiling.

I'd approach your local Building Control office, they'd be able to tell you what you have to do to comply with today's regulations. You will also need to be in contact with the water company as they have to pass the drains too.

We had tiles like this in our porch which were also laid on concrete. We managed to chisel them out and once we started some of them loosened on their own. Any residual concrete left on the tiles was removed with a bench grinder. This was very time consuming and our builder told us to just replace the floor but we were determined to keep the original tiles and it really is worth the time and patience. Unfortunately we 'lost' a whole bag of the tiles between lifting them and relaying them (subsequently found them in the shed!!) so our pattern was slightly reduced but I still love them. I notice no one has replied. It could be that the question is too wide- do you need help with layouts in which case post a floor plan, if you don't know what to mix with the tiles then show us the stone, if you can't find a vanity that fits then please give more detail. If however you need inspiration then search the photos on this site using filters or key words to help narrow the choice. Best of luck
