Is this the whole house made of concrete slabs?

It looks like it could just be that one wall from the picture. I think it would be really cool to have something like this as a spare room or garage. http://www.allconnsw.com.au/services

The main structure of the house is cast concrete (concrete poured into forms) but there is wood framing in many areas.

I live in the Scottish Borders and three years ago there was a government incentive to externally insulate the houses. Due to the construction of the houses (poured concrete they couldn’t have cavity wall insulation ) . The difference to the heating bills is unbelievable but the look of the house is fabulous as there was new render put on new window sills and down pipes .i agree with the comment that just doing one house would stand out like a sore thumb but it just takes one to start the ball rolling . Maybe speak to your neighbours and they may want to do the same . All the houses in my street had the cladding and it has transformed the look of the street . I have since revamped my lounge and kitchen. There was nothing wrong with the kitchen cupboards so they where painted ,new work tops and sink . I did have a breakfast bar that took up a lot of room which I have replaced with a glass table . My next project is my bedroom which is getting refitted with new wardrobes and draws . Ex local authority houses are well built and have big rooms , they are worth buying as you can do so much with them ,I have bigger cupboards than the rooms that are in some new builds . This is my kitchen, it is so much lighter and more space . The back board is the same as the work top , so no tiles to grout .

Absolutely not! You've chosen some beautiful tiles! Marble is very hot right now, but is a classic material that will never go out of fashion. The hexagon file certainly is fashionable, but adds a contemporary slant to the design. Colour wise, those choices leave you a fairly neutral palette, so you can add interest with colour and accessories. Your mirror sounds lovely, and will really pull the scheme together! Be brave and keep going, you're doing so well!!

We have a similar dilemma and have decided to go for kitchen safe laminate and lay it ourselves. We spoke to a builder who helped us on another job last Summer and he said Howdens laminate is good - though you'd need access to a trade account to buy it. Perhaps you have a contact from your previous work who can help you with that. We enjoy a DIY challenge and can't justify the LVT price tag right now - although if we could then we would go for LVT. I wanted to comment because I noticed your price estimates for Karndean. When we had our LVT quote, the fitter was able to source the Karndean flooring we wanted at around half the price that I'd seen in various places online which meant it came in at around £15 per meter which is cheaper than quickstep. So if you're having the floor screeded anyway (which is a big part of the cost)... perhaps worth talking to a fitter to see what they can do which might save you some money on the LVT to make it more justifiable.
