What sort of light would you use in this living room
Comments (14)Hi weezer16. I've had the same problem several times. If I were you I would keep to a fairly simple shape like a drum e.g http://www.pagazzi.com/shop-for-lighting/ceiling-lights/davis-extra-large-pendant-silver.html I can't tell from your photos whether a warmer colour would go better but the shape won't detract from the wall paper on the chimney Brest and ties in with the fairly simple mantle but a larger size will stop it blending into the background. Then you can add a bit more interest with your cabinet lighting etc....See MoreHave broken, dark, characterless living room - help please?
Comments (7)Without knowing the dimension of your room it's hard but I would suggest the following: Colours: keep it neutral, try not to choose colours within the yellow spectrum. Although you would think it would make it feel 'warm' they also have a tendency to make it feel quite dark. The room is too small to do anything majorly bold with your walls. I would be tempted to choose a slightly off white colour and use your pictures and a big colourful rug to bring colour into the room. Orientation: put your TV in the wall above the fireplace. Your sofa under the stairs and get two smaller occasional chairs on the wall the sofa is currently on. Also put your large mirror on this wall. The armchair you have could go where the TV is and be used with the standing lamp as a little reading chair. Windows: slated wooden blinds in brilliant white would look great. Lights: change the green to match the chandelier light, the rooms not big enough for two different lamp shades. Or at the very least a different chandelier? You need small tables with lamps on dotted around. Your pictures are hung a little too high to the ceiling. You might want to try grouping them together a bit more. This is just what I would do, but It's a pretty little room, it'll look nice whatever you do....See MoreHanging bedside lamps versus wall-mounted or table lamps?
Comments (6)I like the look of the hanging pendant lights but do think it will be a passing trend. Not least because of the practicality issue of non-directional light that you've already mentioned. I used wall lights in the spare bedroom to save surface space on the small bedside tables. They're only cheap £16 ones from IKEA but I think they look nice all the same and they swivel so you can use them directionally. We needed plug in ones which limited our options but I covered the white wire in grey electrical tape to help it blend with the wall colour. (These ones also come in antique brass now which I think would look lovely with a contrasting shade). http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/lighting/wall-lights/%C3%A5rstid-wall-lamp-nickel-plated-white-art-60163881/...See MoreLamp for living room suggestions
Comments (18)I don't know what you think of this lamp? I love the art, it's really pretty. I like the wood frames they're shown in but brass would work. Just thinking heron/crane/peacock cushions could work with the ginkgo art ( I really like the first cushion with the art, it's from junique although the other 2 from dunelm pick up the gold accents) . I'd just buy 2 of these dearer ones and mix with plain, cheap ones in different textures in different shades of blue and blue green (again would try dunelm)...See Morerickster88
