Need help with my bathroom

Hello, Please can someone help, we recently redesigned our bathroom, we decided to remove the bath tub and replace it with a walk in shower. We really struggled to come up with a colour scheme for the room and ended up with the shimmering mosaic tiles on the far wall and 'white' tiles everywhere else, once the walls were tiled, the 'white' tiles now look off white and they don't compliment the beautiful mosaic tiles - what do you think?
I'm not completely happy with the room and was wondering if anyone can advice on what we could do to make it look better / nicer? Where should we place the mirror (s), what colour blind should we have..etc.. I am completely lost on how to move forward with this room. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have attached photo's.

Hi. The mosaics are beautiful and I think what is throwing you off with the white tiles is that they are matt and not gloss, when the sink and toilet are shiny and the mosaics are shiny.

I think it looks good so far and what would really help is to paint the window frame. I would usually say to use semi-gloss, but in this case, try a matt white paint to tie in the white tiles. Still use a moisture-resistant bathroom/kitchen paint to make it last longer.

I would put a tall and narrow mirror above the sink in either a venetian style or with a frame that picks up on one of the abalone/capiz shell colours in the mosaic tile (it is difficult to tell exactly what colours are there on my monitor). That will help carry the reflective nature of your mosaics around the room. The pictures below are for ideas only (some only ship within the US, some are crazy prices, and none are the right shape!). Hi. Like boundsgreener's suggestions but if you like the tone of the window frame then an alternative would be to stain it even darker to match the floor, and then get a mirror with a similar coloured frame for above the sink. You could add a splash of colour with a blind, towels and soap dispenser on the sink and in the shower. Difficult to know what colour without a closer look at the tiles and what colours shine through in them, but maybe a turquoise or pink? Then I think a toilet roll holder might look nice to the left of the toilet if there is enough room without getting in the way of you standing at the sink.

I have just gone through this process. My plumber and the specialist tiler each made the same points: (1). Around the "heavy water flow" areas, mosaics are higher risk. The weakest point for water getting in is the grouting. If you use small tiles, you maximise the chances of water damage simply because there is more grouting. (2). Very large wall tiles make their lives more difficult. I used huge wall tiles (90cm X 30cm) and they both said that those very large tiles are more difficult to ensure a completely flat surface. The plastered walls are never completely flat and even and it is easier to adjust adhesive levels with more regular sized tiles. Not a reason to avoid massive tiles (although they seem to be more expensive) but just be aware. On the upside, there are fewer grout lines, so less likely to get water damage! (3). If you get a heavily textured tile surface, it is much more difficult to get a really clean tile cut when they need to trim them. Can result in higher wastage as a result. So, overall, I'd avoid mosaics other than as a trim in bath or shower areas. To keep costs down and make the job faster, go for a smooth wall tile no bigger than 60x40cm. Or ignore all this and go for what you love!

Dulux offer a massive range of mix your own colour choices. We use a lot of dulux paint and find that the shades come out just slightly lighter than those on the cards. Find an actual dulux store, or go to Homebase they mix also. dulux colour charts

This room should provide plenty of space for everything you are looking to include, without it ending up being too crowded. There is enough space to both sides of the window for a shower, but the window also provides an ideal location for the free-standing bath. The small bite taken out of the room by the adjacent cloakroom provides the potential for some interest, perhaps with counter-height bulkhead to conceal a cistern and have a semi-recessed wash hand basin. The toilet was going to stay in the current position. Bath along the back wall and a basin maybe on the right hand wall. I'm just struggling for ideas and don't want to start the first fix plumbing until I'm entirely sure on layout Thank you for your response :)

Just wondering what type of lighting you have in your new bathroom (12volt or 240volt).
Either way you would need a spur (power supply) taken from your existing light to your new light location, and access above bathroom ceiling to lay cable to new light location :
I would suggest if possible to invest in LED lighting (which may need a transformer) , although more expensive initially they use far less electricity so are more viable long term in my opinion.
Obviously, I would always recommend using a suitably qualified electrician.
I think it's a nice room and I'm sure you'll have it just the way you want it very soon.

Ps: I forgot to say I would put the mirror above your basin as I think that's the most suitable location for it.
As the bathroom is is of a modern feature, I would suggest a large area of glass that can be cut to size by a glass manufacturer/supplier ( if you ask nicely they will even drill holes in the glass for fixing the mirror to the wall.) This will really help bounce the light around the bathroom and give a sense of space

I also like boundsgreener's idea of painting the window white or the perhaps same colour as your plain tiles would help as it seems to be pulling out the darker tones of the mosaics
Also, finding a feature mirror to compliment the mosaics.

Looking at the mosaics they seem to have very pale taupe, grey & aqua tones, I think you should introduce colour in towels & bathmat. I'm liking the idea of a very pale aqua to keep the feeling of airiness in such a small space. If that's not a colour you like then try the others - Try TK Maxx and you can always take them back.

I think your tile choice is great, love the large white tiles. I would add a simple white Roman shade to the window to carry the wall color to that side of the room. A simple frameless rectangular mirror placed vertically above the sink to echo the window. A frame may compete too much with the window frame. Towels in a seafoam or aqua shade which complements the grey mosaic. And put the toilet seat down for your follow up pics. Very nice room!
