Need help arranging furniture in the study!

I feel like we've tried everything and we always end up in the same place. We recently moved in and are also looking for ideas for additional pieces, bookcase? Recliner? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Comments (5)Hi. How about this attempt for layout assuming the fire is boarded up? The sofa would be about 8ft from the tv. (There is leg room between the sofas and I drew the coffee table too far away but ignore that!), Tv can go on the wall or on a cabinet or on the wall with a console underneath and art and decorative pieces around it. Personally I wouldn't put the desk by the bay as you'd be blocking light with a screen. Would it work where the table currently is with a desk lamp?If you need storage, I'd put bits away in a cabinet or get a desk with drawers. Cafe shutters would be good or if on a budget wooden blinds can look good or voile blinds. In terms of style, what do you like? Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up an area, I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking point to the room.... Comments (8)Yes, it's a complete nightmare! Thank you both for replying. We have tried dividing the room with the large sofa, where the smaller armchair is, and the TV used to be on the patterned wall. The smaller armchair went where the TV is. Whatvwe found was that there wasn't much space between the two chairs to get in and out of the kitchen - the chairs are both very deep so they really come into the room . when the chair was where the TV is I always felt like I was missing something that was going on behind me - that sounds silly, I know!! I love the idea of zoning with a rug and a coffee table would be so handy - currently we have to twist right round to reach the tables on either side of the sofa. If you'd have a writing desk where the TV currently is, what would you do with the armchair? At the moment it feels like there are two chunks of wasted space on either side of the big sofa. Yes, yes, yes to the yellow and grey! I love your photos, and it would really lift the dark wallpaper. I bought the cushions for Christmas 2015 and didn't change them afterwards, so a fresh look is long overdue! 11 years agolast modified: 11 years agoHow about a library/office feel? How about floating the desk with the chair behind on the big blank wall? Then, a comfy chair/ottoman with a floor lamp reading nook at the bay window? You could put a credenza with book cases flanking behind the chair, then a nice piece of art in the center of the bookcases with a light above the art. This arrangement, with your furniture...The second photo is the bay window reading nook thought..not this furniture..just for arrangement.

11 years agoPull the desk out and turn it at an angle so the person sitting there can turn to see out and can see the door. Add pieces as you can; a chair or two opposite the desk, lamps, etc.
