Comments (9)I was going to suggest locating the tv to the bar area until I read your comment - then I read about cable trunking! So... I'm sticking to the suggestion of locating the tv under the stairs. That would truly free up the room so that you could keep it fairly open for now with just a sofa and maybe a couple of huge bean bags for the kids but could add further seating as the kids get older. You have a gorgeous light filled room there, so I would use an L shape right hand sofa. That way the patio doors are kept free for the light to flood in and for you to open in the sumer to create a flowing indoor/outdoor space. I would also keep the style of the sofa as slimline as possible in order for the space to feel larger and use modern glass side tables for the room to feel spacious and uncluttered keeping the feeling of lightness. I've attached a couple of links to Dwell which have some sofas I think would look great in your space. The space under the sofa could be used for storage or kept vacant to further create the illusion of spaciousness in the room. Sofa 1: http://dwell.co.uk/102841 The following is in sections which can be used with or without a centre unit - this would allow you to play with the space http://dwell.co.uk/104327 I'm not too sure about the sizes in your room but hopefully the styles may also be something you would consider. Comments (28)Hello 81bec, Well you don't need a lot on a sofa.. I tend to group them in 1's or 2's at the ends rather than along... The only place I can go ott is on a bed.. I digress..but I did a count and found I have 17 including 6 pillows! ; ) ) I think you will instantly see an uplift there on the sofa.. Also re the art work... Why not consider making your own? Canvases could be arranged in sizes and configuration you like and painted to blend with the walls they sit on.. Or why not use your colour scheme... Duck egg blue block colour with an old silver edging.. This could be a lovely way to bring the scheme in and not breaking the bank whilst doing it.. : ))...See MoreInterior cohesiveness in L shaped kitchen/diner - need help!
Comments (6)Hello Louise, There's several ways you can add to existing arrangements with either choosing a wall or a section to paint a green colour.. Or add colour and wall coverings. Some fantastic green papers around. Complimenting an idea in one space by the introduction of something similar but not exact, is my preferred way of providing continuity.. You reference rather than copy.. Consider things like a tiled panel or splash back in fantastic green tiles.. Green blinds or a linen colour with green border. Perhaps you could introduce soft furnishings and yes green plant material is always good.. It doesn't need to be flowers it could be large leaves in fabulous ceramic ware.. Consider art too like canvases.. If you didn't want to paint any walls or add wallpaper, large oversized canvases or an arrangement of smaller one's in the colour you desire can give you the colour and texture without a complete transformation.. Here's some leafy inspiration for the walls... :)) This one is a personal favourite... This one too... I love it!...See MoreFirst post - Please help! L-Shaped Kitchen/Diner dilemma(s)!
Comments (24)If you take the 290 unit off the back run and island, I think that would be sufficient? As you've got kids I think a banquette seat would be ideal for family games, homework, crafts etc. Banquettes are around 60cm, table 90cm so that leaves 113cm which I think is more than sufficient both visually and practically as it's the same gap I have behind my kitchen table. Choose chairs that push under and consider the table legs carefully depending on the number of chairs wanted, pedestal tables often work. I would however take the sink off the island and maybe install a prep sink instead so the back run would be DW, sink, bin, induction hob (I'd integrate the oven personally). Is the shower room a must? It seems quite a trek to reach there with the number of doors unless there was a way to extend the 2nd front door forward and create access from the hall there. Also wondering if you'd considered removing the wall between snug and the old kitchen? It may make the area more useable rather than trying to fill the old kitchen...See MoreMel B
