Which kitchen worktop (colour and type)?
Comments (14)Have you had a look at quartz (silestone, compac, cimstone etc)? They offer a lot of white coloured stone and it has the features of granite worktops with the look, feel and touch but they come without the added maintenance of granite worktops. Wood worktops compliment light coloured kitchens but they do come with extra maintenance that if not kept up to scratch will make the wood look nasty after a while. Corian is a solid surface material that comes with various white/grey/light colourways and a key thing that makes it popular is that the joins are invisible, so it looks like one giant piece. Personal preference and a lot of pictures will get you an idea of what it is you want. There are quite a lot of options out there so make sure you take some time to research each worktop material and brand....See MoreUnsure of which colour worktops for kitchen?
Comments (9)Hi Charlotte, I'd echo everyone's thoughts and say go for accessories. It's really easy to mix it up that way, and things like tea and coffee caddies and tea towels are fairly inexpensive to do so. At the window, a made-to-measure blind would really help too. Practical solutions for kitchens include Roller and Vertical blinds, as well as Fauxwood options. Good luck with your new project, Zoe...See MoreSuitable colours to lighten dark kitchen worktop
Comments (5)Hi Elizabeth, I proposed a colour scheme for you as that is usually where people struggle to "match" the granite. I proposed Farrow & Ball Colours but most paint counters will match to Farrow & Ball Anyway, if you want to keep costs down. I included two options for the lower half. You said you wanted to keep it light and the wall and top cabinet colour I proposed would work below as well. I just thought it would be nice to have a darker colour option just in case you changed your mind. Don't forget that high gloss surfaces will bounce light around the room. This means that lighting and the type of finish you propose will be critical to the end result. Also be ware if you are painting the cupboards yourself that silk paint will show up every imperfection! I hope this helped you. Good luck! Jo x...See MoreGrey Kitchen what colour worktops
