Need ideas for living room decor
Comments (21)I'd go for pattern. It should have the same colours as your colours. I always say to clients that rug should be one of the first starting point in the colour scheme. Take a look at Bazaar Velvet Rug (just put this in Google) - they are expensive but they might give you an idea of different styles, colours and patterns. Once you choose your rug pull some colours out for your cushions. I think 2 colours would be ideal mixed with your black and white tones. Also you need to think about the textures of your cushions. They can be just one colour but in textured velvet like crush velvet, or linen, glazed linen etc. I wrote few blogs about this. Link is in my profile....See Moreideas for living room decor
Comments (15)If it were mine I'd have to introduce some lighter colours rather than stronger or darker. Maybe some light dove grey for the walls and blinds (possibly one with a very subtle pattern). I'd add some pictures pulling out the paler greys (thinking of some I've seen recently with people in them that I spotted in a houzz tour but sadly don't know what they were called. A bit similar to the matchstick men ones - more light colours than strong colours). Then I'd take one or two colours from those pictures and add accents but probably not in very strong colours - possibly smoky blues. Depend on the pictures. I'd probably go for silver/pewter accessories. Glass to add light. Defenitely some more lighting in there....See MoreLiving Room lighting and decor ideas
Comments (5)What is going to be the focal point in the lounge area? Are you going to have a T.V ? If you would prefer to have a lot of seating for your gatherings in the main lounge, and, you have a formal dining room, maybe you could have the area at the bottom as a little t.v niche? Not everyone wants the T.V to be prominent. I think you do need a focal point though or it does become a little like a waiting room with all the furniture around the outside. The sofa at the top isn't quite working for me, and I know this is just at concept stage, but if you have a sofa that shape all you will see when you come in from the garden is the side of the sofa. The people sitting there have their backs to the garden, whilst those opposite them have no view either as it's blocked by the other end. I think it's great to have a lovely big family gathering, but you do need to live in the house also when so many people aren't there. I've given you the large area for entertaining, with a few tweaks, but left you with a little area for yourselves when the family aren't around. I'd tweak the bottom area further as those doors either side of the wall split aren't symmetrical, plus I kept the Hallway view free of furniture. There's enough space in the lounge are for many people to sit, but if you wanted to bring in a buffet table for special occasions, then you could place it in the middle and let people help themselves and go back to their seats happily...See MoreLiving room layout and decoration... Comments (8)Hello Celia Reis, Lots to think about... It does not matter what you have but where you place it to make it work. And what is there that make the room become one (sounds very yoda ) :) How about putting the sofa by the window. The box where the sofa was. See what that looks like? The side table in between the sofa and the chair. Add some shelving to the alcoves. Re: photos There are lots of photo places that will make photos much larger for a portrait. Group pictures together on the shelf or on the side table. You do not need to space everything out. Some questions: 1.What colour are the walls ? 2.What colours do you like ? Is there a favourite material you like that can be made into a paint colour or made into some cushions. Then use the colour throughout as accents. 3. What items did you want to repurpose? What colour ? 4. Can the cabinet fit in the alcove? 5. Does the fireplace work? 6. Do you have any larger pictures, photos ? 7. Are both lamps the same size ? What are they to be the same colour ? 8. Will there be a TV in the room ? Some pics to help. Are there any elements in these pics that help? So change the placement of furniture like in the pictures. Put everything you want in the room and play around with them. Have fun:...See Morekatie5067
