Need help with main floor paint colour
I am having a very difficult time finding a neutral paint colour to compliment my trim, which is beige. The trim colour cannot be changed, as it matches all of the windows, as well as inside and outside trims. The current wall paint colour on the main level is a muted green which I do not like. The baseboards and fireplace base will hopefully be installed soon.
Upstairs in most of the rooms and hallway I have light blue which looks amazing. I love the blue, but think it isn't a good colour for the main floor, for resale. I love crisp white, but I feel that with beige trim, it would look 'country' which isn't what I'm going for.
In my master bedroom, (and in the main floor mudroom), we have a very nice shade of medium brown which looks stunning with the beige trim, but if I were to use it on the main floor, I feel it would make the space seem too small and dark.
The current house is an updated Craftsman. I think the house style dictates a traditional feel. I will be buying new living room furniture this summer as well. I am hoping to have neutral walls and furniture, with pacific blue (aqua), and a few other accents.
Suggestions for wall colour?

Comments (6)I think I would go with the purbeck stone. I have elephants breath but it can be warm in South facing rooms and as your flooring is really warm I'd go for a contrast. Comments (7)Hi Polina Lucky for you we offer exactly what your looking for. A Grand piano like you have would look fantastic against a real traditional Grand looking panelled wall . We could create something Simple but very Dramatic. I'm thinking wall to wall ,floor to ceiling. I think the colour you choose in the decoration of the paneling will determine the impact. Comments (20)Ha, funnily enough I tried some colours out on your walls in photoshop yesterday, which doesn't mean a thing, since it always looks different on screen, and I too thought that Ammonite worked well. Still, do try it out. Painted the skirting All White. All three photos were taken on overcast days. In the 2nd and 3rd photos, you can see that there are a lot of windows, all south facing, so the space does receive a lot of sunlight normally. Also, I have the pot lights on for 2nd and 3rd photos.
Additional photos show that the nice fuzzy cream rug is actually way too small for the space, and I have no table lamps or coffee table. Also, our furniture is old, so time to update. The dining nook and kitchen are all in the one big open space. You can see the colour of the kitchen cabinets in the last shot: cherry with a brown stain. Stools are similar,
The curtains are from Ikea and are a little lighter than the trim. I am thinking about getting dark brown woven shades. I love the idea of white walls, but just a little timid.
The green looks pretty good in these photos... maybe I should just finish off the rooms with a large area rug, coffee table, lamps and a few accessories and call it a day? My next house will be more modern with white walls (hopefully)!
