Ceiling light with extensions off?

My landing is quite dark with only one light and above the stairs is also v high & dark.

Rather than having extra lights fitted (cost!) I thought about one of those new lights that can have multiple shades that you hang up on hooks?

I want something modern but not expensive. No idea what they are called so struggling to google it, ha ha.

Anyone know their name or seen any good ones at reasonable prices??

Hi Tani. try googling cluster shade light or industriał cluster light if you want something like these from imperial lighting or made.com. If not either of these styles I'm not sure what you mean!

Hi! Yes it's that sort of thing but I want one that you can hang further away from each light. Will google that though and see what it brings up.

Ps re my cabinet - I haven't painted it yet sorry, I just meant 'now' as in when I get around to it, ha ha.

Might just go with black but wondering whether to do a gloss instead of matt so it's more reflective. I did pick up a fab all white lampshade for that corner (antler style) and some white pineapple candles

Hi Moggles i have a similar renovation starting and have the same thoughts re pendant lighting from steel. Are you actually allowed to have anything coming from the steel itself or won't this negate the fire proofing measures put in place ? So if you are allowed to hang directly from under the steel the next concern is the head height as looking at your photos it does look limited. I have actually bought 2 pendant fittings so i can decide when the time is right which is going to look best. One is a standard pendant with 3 lights dropping from it ... quite ordinary. The other is a long thin led bar that i thought could be hung with as much or little drop from the ceiling as required. Kitchen design looks great! I'm pretty sure we can offer some expertise on Lighting for your consideration. Firstly totally agree with you partner that a grid of recessed light looks a tad boring. If you do opt for recessed a more modern and practical way to use them would be to use them in a row against your high cabinets, just in front of them. This will not only show off your featured cabinets but also bring some much needed light to the ovens and in cupboards. I'd urge that you do have lights above the peninsular. If you can switch different circuits separately, if you can't use dimmer switches where possible. Stick to a common theme between you lights e.g.: same colour metal or similar style but they do not need to be all the same. In a larger open plan area different lighting help things look interesting and zone the area's. Above you table you'll need a light but if the light hangs in front of the TV that will not be so good, reflections will drive you crazy. You didn't mention ceiling height but we do have lights for the tallest and shortest ceilings. Well hopefully you will find something, much cheaper idea than lots of lights! I did think it was quite late to start painting but knowing how much you're doing in the house I thought it might be possible! A gloss would look good on it or a lacquer but maybe see if you can do a tester on something to see what it looks like against the console table. Sounds like that corner is nearly done then, will look great
