Help! Hallway and stairs laid bare, ready for Houzz overhall!
Comments (8)Thank you, all, for the input! Finally, following some electrical surprise that needed sorting, this project is fully underway. The hall, stairs and landing have been completely stripped of their nicotine-addled liner paper, and are starting from bare plaster. This means we'll likely take advantage of the once-in-a-blue-moon super-smooth walls and just paint them white, making a feature out of the stair and landing carpet (hall flooring to come next year when we do the rest of the ground floor). The long-wall is north-east facing, and I'd like to be bold with colour, and am leaning toward blue green for dengue shui reasons! Where can I get a Crucial Trading Audrey-esque stair runner in a cooler colour set? Further, my partner has gotten into the idea of being quirky and purchased a set of WWII paratrooper jump lights to install above the door to the downstairs loo (now knows as "the War Room" or "the jump seat"...). So now my bright green mosaic WC (that we'll eventually extend into a wet room) is begging for metro tiles instead. I still want a pop of colour through the door... I was thinking a pretty strong green (again for feng shui reasons) that goes with the stair carpet, and white hexagon tiles or black something-or-others on the floor. Thoughts...??? It's the coordination between spaces that is throwing me!...See MoreBare wall - any solutions?
Comments (8)Hello, You can have a look here for some ideas, perhaps there is a style of artwork you might like. http://www.houzz.co.uk/projects/users/konvalinadesignstudio We would happy to create something specially for you in the dimensions and colours to fit the space the best. Depending on your budget sometimes commissioning original artwork is not as costly as perceived. I would be delighted to give more precise idea if interested. Best of luck...See MoreBare bedroom-need ideas!!
Comments (11)Sorry I forgot to reply..I like the dark furniture in the 2nd pic i posted. ikea Hemnes is a black brown which may be worth a look but I’m not sure how size compares to yours. i tried painting the walls in a similar colour but it came out rather dark! Your curtains are rather lilac so have tried adding more purple tones. I can’t photoshop btw, made worse due to the camera angle (!) but it was just to give you an idea. Anyway, i would layer the bed with throws and cushions and consider adding a pendant light, the feather ones are great for texture and can be hung a bit lower than normal as no damage if your head hits. Plug in wall lights could be an alternative to lamps. Linen bedding is also great for a cosy feel (used with a plump duvet A blanket box may fit at the end of the bed for extra storage if needed...See MoreHelp decorating a huge bare wall!?
Comments (6)Popular at the moment are the strips of floor to ceiling wood as a panel/headboard. sometimes the wall behind painted a dark colour and the sides of the wood stained darker to increase the shade effect…..looks natural and goes well with plants….and the terracotta you have in mind painted on the rest of the wall.…a paler chalky version of the round cushion in your last photo? i was wondering if you could do something with the bank of doors opposite the bed to reflect what you do behind the bed, perhaps painting the walls and door a similar shade and perhaps covering some doors in mirror?...See More- 11 years ago
