Huge Bathroom - what to do?
Comments (30)Large Bathrooms are actually the biggest challenge we face in our showroom! so many customers come in with large spaces but not knowing what to do. One option is to have a large freestanding bath as the vocal point in the dead centre of the room, then fill the room out around it with storage areas and furniture. Another common solution is to create a bedroom/bathroom all in one space. This may even add value to your property! If you need our expertise just give us a call or visit our website, our designers would be more than willing to help. www.damans.co.uk...See MoreWindow privacy help
Comments (8)It's up to you how much you cover; personally, I'd go for the whole wall - it looks more dramatic. I'm really not good when it comes to curtains and stuff; we went for shutters just because I couldn't do the whole curtains/ blinds thing, however I had a look for you, maybe you can get better advice from others. From the looks of it, your wall is about 4m wide, so I think you might need 2 curtain poles if you go for the whole wall; obviously, only one pole if it's just the window. I found this; they do curtain poles 4m long for about £47. And I love that polished graphite shade, I think it could go well with the rest of the room. http://www.polesandblinds.com/speedy-nikola-28mm-metal-curtain-pole-12/?colour=Polished+Graphite They have it in double too, but I think it's unnecessarily expensive: http://www.polesandblinds.com/integra-zorb-28-19mm-double-curtain-poles-5/?colour=Black+Nickel Ikea sells this double one, it's a bit thin, 3.8m long and with the right curtains, it could get covered, so you won't even notice it http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S69929247/ Dunelm Mill for sheers - they have all sorts, including plain: http://www.dunelm-mill.com/shop/curtains/voile-panels/ or this: http://www.netcurtainsdirect.com/range.php?t=voile-panels or Ikea again. I'm afraid I'm out of ideas... as I said, I'm really not good at it - just too much choice everywhere. I hope this helps, maybe others will chip in. Comments (6)We have a similarly sized window and after much research and deliberation opted for 3 x silentgliss roller blinds inside the window recess plus wave curtains. The blinds are in a translucent fabric to screen the sunlight and are electrically operated so there is no chain hanging down. They can be adjusted individually to suit where we need to screen the sun. We went for black fabric as surprisingly it is more translucent than white so we can still see out on a sunny day when the blinds are down. The curtain tracks are quite long so we can draw the curtains right back and they don't obstruct the door or block the view/light. We have a wonderful view and are not overlooked but find that much bare window is not comfortable feeling at night (just a big black shiny space!) so the unlined linen curtains make the room cozy and also provide acoustic softening which prevents the room being too 'echoey'. The wave tracks are great as with a big window you have a lot of curtain but they need less fabric than standard tracks so stack more compactly. Enjoy your home!...See MoreWhat would you do with these huge windows??
Comments (7)Gosh that's not an easy shape to dress. If it was me, I would either... 1) hang a curtain pole higher than the angled side with full length curtains and voile panels underneath for the day time. Depending on the height, IKEA do actual panels that slide and you can fit the rail underneath your actual curtain pole. So at night you would get your privacy and in the day you can move the panels where you want. They come in difference textures and patterns so don't all have to be see through. Our lounge window is 8' wide and short of having custom roller blinds made to order which would have cost a fortune, we went with the 2 rail system of sheer plain voile and curtains. It's south facing and the voiles do work quite well at filtering light and privacy in the day and they only cost me £12!! If you go with this option, they do a double curtain pole at dunelm for about £60 I think (depends on your width of course) so you can thread voiles under the curtains. I can't think of any alternative options except applying an etched film on the angled part and fitting the curtains across the straight part of the doors/glass. The film comes in all sorts of patterns and colours and you general fit it with just soapy water. (So it's easily removable) Good luck!...See Moreredjez
