Would you rather have: Crittall windows or sash windows?
Comments (44)I love both but it depends on the property and the overall style of the house. I am about to embark on a renovation project of a 1970s house and I’m looking to completely transform the exterior with render and change the windows to sashes, I don’t know where to start so any advice by sash window experts is welcome!...See MoreWhat would you do?
Comments (13)Hi Alant1000 and manabout the house - thank you for commenting! I was thinking of half tiles half wallpaper funnily enough before haha! I think I would like to have full wallpaper though on the main window where the window is though because I love the wallpaper so much!! I would 100% go for half tiles where the sink is now in cream/white metro. I was thinking of getting mirrors originally behind the toilet to make the room look bigger - I saw it on houzz one time and loved the idea! Funnily enough, I was looking at how I could move it last night! I think it costs around £200-£300 but I may also have to pay for pipes rewiring it said which may cost thousands! Eeek! Seriously why would they ruin a big wall by sticking that ugly thing there, they could easily just have put it in the cupboard under the stairs! I would definitely be boxing in the unit of it was going to cost too much! The sink is so so small though which is another issue! With the one I found it had towel rails underneath too which I think would save space as well! I thought about a vanity unit but with that ridiculous base the pipes are put into would it work? And would it take up too much room? I want to hide the ugly pipes desperately!...See MoreWould like window shutters but what would go with brown upvc windows?
Comments (9)I think you'll have to go with white or whatever looks best indoors in those rooms. You can always think about getting the windows colour bonded at some point instead of replacing them. Then you can choose any colour for those inside and out! You can paint UPVC yourself - All of our windows inside are painted the same colour as the walls in those rooms so that the windows blend into the walls. They were dark brown / mahogany ( vile ) - Outside they are all sage green. If you're going to paint the frames inside which will brighten the rooms and let you have whatever colour shutters you like, use Zinsser 1-2-3 primer and then paint away....See MoreWhat type and style of window do you guys think would improve look?
Comments (12)Thank you guys you ve provided reassurance and consideration for me to keep the windows as they are... maybe I’m being over critical however if they look fine to others then I’m most definitely swayed to keep them. Do you think I just keep fan light sections with the criss cross design or just change those panes for a cleaner look? They are upvc Also, yes I think shutters will go the fan light line in the window to keep it look as sinple as possible. I recognise that half length window shutters would look odd The reason for shutters is that the first floor front bedrooms look out onto a main road with lots of traffic so I felt that would offer privacy. Additionally I have a very severe dust allergy so whereas curtains may look fab, opening and closing them each night and morning sets my allergy off so I find blinds and shutters have always worked best for me? Unless anyway has similar experience or could suggest alternative as I’m open to other options :)...See MoreNew Homeowner
