Hi everyone. I am in love with Cole and Sons Flamingo Wallpaper and really want to use it in our downstairs bathroom. The problem is, it's not a huge size so I'm not sure how to use it effectively! I've attached photos of the bathroom at the moment so you can see the size of the room. I am having the floor tiled cream with grey grout in August and I love the metro tiles with the wallpaper like in the attached photo. I will happily pay for a new sink and new toilet to save space (plus I hate the awful sink we were given when we moved in!) many thanks everyone!

You could easily add half tiles / half wallpaper. Even though it's a small space, in a cloakroom it sort of doesn't matter.

If I were you I'd just go for it, I did the same with mine and it looked fine.

Rather than change the toilet and sink, I'd personally spend that money on a cut-to-size mirror on the upper half of one of the walls, maybe directly opposite the toilet. It will make the room look bigger and you won't loose the decoration effect.

I was going to comment but Amber done it all for me (Amber rearrange my tiny room plz.) This room has so much scope and basically just needs key pieces already there to be placed better. I agree with curtains longer poles let them FREE no tie backs get closer with your seating for conversation areas plz lose little rug in front of harth. Group some of your ornaments so not so granny looking. A few plants and flowers to give the room life. Take care hanging pictures on walls they need to be hung straight with thought to viewing height if too small as some are group them for more impact. Get a large picture or mirror over fireplace they are not expensive one that reflects what you love. Keep all the vintage toys especially old horse he's great adds charm and old car lovely. I would repaint but wait till furniture rearranged then sit back in there with light flooding in from your beautiful windows and see what colours the natural light loves then decide. do as Dundrum says. although your pic doesn't show the rest of the street I suspect there is a strong symmetry with the other houses. this needs to be kept. a statement is what this house eally doesn't need. As has been said, refresh the exterior paintwork keeping it the same as the neighbours and/or in line with that of the other houses on the street, and generally smarten up what is there. the hedge on the left should be clipped. the tree on the right is a yew and should not be touched. it is a slow grower and will cause no problems. if it is bothering you the whole tree and not just your side can be trimmed by a third. one thing that would be good is to remove all the weeds from the gravel, possibly relay the gravel if needed, and introduce some sort of threshold between you and the road - it may already exist underneath the weeds.

The first one looks original. I had a few in my 1934 house when I moved in. I hated them and removed them all, they looked too utilitarian for my liking! Looks like something from the war years. The second looks more recent. Looks like marble or similar stone and I really like it. Quite unusual. If it is marble then please don’t paint it, that would be sacrilege. Do you like them?

Hi Sarah! It's definitely a decent sized house with plenty of space to play with. It looks like it may originally have been a smaller 3-bed semi that's had a wrap around extension built. Sadly it's quite typical to see this done not so well. But it can definitely be improved. The upstairs can be altered by adding in circulation or moving the stairs, depending on how many and what size bedrooms and other rooms you want to have. Essentially it looks like the large dressing room acts as an upstairs hall space for circulation really. My recommendation if you are to buy it is to live in it for a few months, ideal 6-12 months, before starting your redesign. I'd get a slimline vanity unit for the sink to hide the pipework. I like the wallpaper to go opposite on the wall with the toilet. I'd have to put a cabinet around the fuse box to hide it. ( What a shame the builders chose to put it where it is! If it were centralised on the back wall, the cabinet wouldn't look out of place, and you could have had a bigger mirrored one to bounce the light around - If it were my house i'd have to move it! )

I was thinking of half tiles half wallpaper funnily enough before haha! I think I would like to have full wallpaper though on the main window where the window is though because I love the wallpaper so much!! I would 100% go for half tiles where the sink is now in cream/white metro. I was thinking of getting mirrors originally behind the toilet to make the room look bigger - I saw it on houzz one time and loved the idea!

Funnily enough, I was looking at how I could move it last night! I think it costs around £200-£300 but I may also have to pay for pipes rewiring it said which may cost thousands! Eeek! Seriously why would they ruin a big wall by sticking that ugly thing there, they could easily just have put it in the cupboard under the stairs! I would definitely be boxing in the unit of it was going to cost too much! The sink is so so small though which is another issue! With the one I found it had towel rails underneath too which I think would save space as well! I thought about a vanity unit but with that ridiculous base the pipes are put into would it work? And would it take up too much room? I want to hide the ugly pipes desperately!

Hi Laura, your cat is adorable. I agree with man about the house I buy a vanity unity for the sink, but I would personally put the wallpaper on the sink wall

Hi Laura,

Just one thing to consider as well: putting wallpaper on the wall where your window is means that it would be very close to the sink and with the water often splashing around a little bit it could damage your wallpaper in the long term. However what you could do is put it on the wall behind the toilet and then put a big cut-to-size mirror on the wall where the sink is which would reflect the wallpaper giving the impression that you have more of it (as well as making the room look bigger). And I would then do the window wall in the metro tiles you like which do go really well with that fun wallpaper. Also do you need a heater in the toilet? It seems to be taking us space but do you really use it?

Hi Laura,

Your cat is adorable! What about building a false wall to sink height to box in pipes. The sink can be part placed on this. I think a mirror would be best ov3r the sink and I would put wallpaper on the loo wall. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Get a wall hung loo and conceal all the pipes with a wall hung vanity needn't cost a fortune if you shop around it makes a huge difference to a small space, How about having the walls and floor in the same tile ?

Can you have the fuse box boxed in behind a mirror door ? twin taps are such a waste of space on a tiny sink. I'd love to see a sample of the wall paper!

Come back and show the finished job ? I wish others would

Hi everyone thank you for the messages :) oh god I didn't even think of that! With it being such a small area too that's a big risk! That is true! Either that or the half metro tiles with the paper above? Making sure the sink is fitted with some tiles above (is that possible?) or just paint that wall a block colour with the paper behind the toilet. Maybe do half tiles all the way round then in that case but full paper behind the toilet? Aaaaaargh I'm so stuck! Hahaha to be honest I don't think we do but I would have no idea how to remove it!

Thank you :) he's one of two- his sister is tiny compared to him! Thank you for the advice- I worry that the rooms not big enough already though and would it just make the room seem smaller if I got a false wall

Definitely want a wall hung loo! Save a lot of space! I was looking at Villeroy and Boch to go with the sink I have called in love with but they are so expensive those toilets! Haha. The tiles I don't think I'll be able to get on the wall because I bought them in bulk for the hall way for cheap (the whole floor for the bathroom and hall is tiny hahaha) I have ordered a sample so hopefully it comes shortly

What about half wood panelling, half wall paper? Still quite traditional looking and might not be as busy as the metro tiles? Wood panels might open the space up a bit more. Something like the photo attached, except with a wall hung pan.

What would you do?
