window treatments for bedrooms
Comments (7)Hello matthuire, A nice looking place from the photos... I would say you could have shutters or blinds with tapes that can look like shutters if the thickness is 3cm or wider up to 5cm. Because you don't have a gr8 deal going on with frames and so forth, with those sash windows you can make the blinds work.. You could have a top recess fitting for wooden venetian blind with tapes by the looks of it. This would be my suggestion for something that looks like shutters but less expensive if budget is a consideration.... The windows lend themselves to the "header" (it's the boxy part that the wooden slats go into and is fixed to the top of window, in your case the top reveal?... Or you could have a gauzy sheer roman blinds and some lovely curtains.. : ))...See MoreMain bedroom dilemma: Bedroom layout, walk in wardrobe(?)
Comments (9)Just a thought, what about putting the bed against the wall of the walk in wardrobe and you can still have your headboard, no need to change or move a radiator and the wife's side of the bed would be next to the wardrobe entrance. It's all a bit cramped by the looks of things and while you'll have your ensuite and your walkin wardrobe you'll still be walking into a box room. Another thought I had to to lose the bedside cabinets and increase the appearance of space would be in to have the bed side lights on the partition wall and the storage built into the stud wall with pull out shelves for those breakfast in bed moments and cups of tea. Change the door to open onto your landing as well!!! Good luck...See MoreBedroom/bedroom layout
Comments (10)Don’t have dimensions but the en suite looks larger than it needs to be. I would move the wall between bedroom and en suite back a few feet then you could have wardrobe storage space along the bedroom side of the new stud wall. As building a new stud wall you could have a pocket door and I would put the bed and bedside tables as in the diagram above facing the window. In the ensuite I would make the shower as wide as possible stretching between the new stud wall and the exterior window wall and put the toilet and basin side-by-side along the window wall...See MoreWhat colour bedroom furniture with oak windows/doors?
Comments (6)Thank you both for taking the time to reply. I think one of the rooms might well end up with green accents, but I don't think I would like green furniture - would prefer something neutral so that if we wanted to change the colour scheme in the future we could easily without having to replace the furniture. I suspect the other (master) bedroom will end up a more coastal colour scheme. @Sonia, thank you I had been looking at the Cotswold Company so that's good to hear their stuff might work quite nicely. Sadly we don't live that close to any of their stores and I tend to like to see furniture in the flesh but perhaps we'll have to make a trek. Would still be interested to hear what wood types/colours would work best as I don't really like all matching furniture in a room, so I suspect we'll want to have various different items in each of the two bedrooms,....See Morearania82
