We Brits love our wine and with the BBQ season here, we also love to entertain at home. Which type of wine fridge do you have (or would like to have)?

The impact of a wine fridge in a design can be amazing, if
the area allows. I love my wine and these are practical if you have the budget
as saves valuable fridge space. Word of
warning though as with all appliances ensure they are correctly vented as this
prolongs the motor life.

As wine cellar specialists, we regularly work with clients who are passionate about their wines and have the space in their homes for a dedicated wine room or wine cellar. The space might be an existing traditional Victorian or Georgian cellar space, or in a air-conditioned wine room above ground. Having said that, we are also fans of the Wine Fridge because, as Rose points out, they are a great way of keeping a number of bottles (beers and soft drinks included), chilled and ready to serve, right where you need them...in the kitchen! The benefit of freeing up fridge space needed for food, is particularly helpful if you enjoy entertaining! Contemporary Wine coolers look smart and make a wonderful design feature in the modern kitchen, with their glass door, sleek finish and interior lighting. The multitude of sizes and styles available also means that you are sure to find the right model for your home, whether its a slimline under counter model, a fully integrated wine fridge for minimalist kitchens, to full height, large capacity, free standing units. I am aware that this doesn’t tick every box but I hope this inspires you. In my opinion your current layout gives you maximum cabinet and worktop space to accommodate everything you want but you don’t like that layout as there is too much walking around. My alternative has a more compact working area. I note you wanted a sink with drainer- perhaps you could be persuaded with one big simple sink and two dishwashers and vow to never wash a pot again! I also thought that if the kitchen had insufficient space for all of the cookbooks they could go in the dining area which might help retain the clean lines of the handleless kitchen you have your eye on.

Starting with the shallow depth larders, I would remove these, the 900 corner larder would be really difficult to access into the corner especially at the top shelves. Then on the fridge freezer wall i'd make use of the extra space by having 2x 800 larders either side of the fr/frz, for the fr/frz you need to check the spec as i think the gap you have is to small for most american fr/frz so you might need a larger top box. The base corner unit, i'd lose the sink or if you do need a sink near the range i'd move it round the corner. On the range wall, i'd change the 1200 drawer line (have to be carfeull with drawers and corners) and possibly change to a 300 or 400 hi line (small sink in this instead?) and have either a 900 or 800 pan drawers to balance the drawers on the other side. For the wall units I'd consider getting rid of the corner L and have a blind corner instead (blind corner you can make your own corner post and gives you more flexibility) and i wouldn't have the wall units so close to the extractor so its easier to clean and decorate around the extractor (and if its an induction top the extractor is advised to be larger than the hob top). For the other side of the range the drawers are fine and if you like corner L units thats fine (I prefer blind corner units and make my own corner posts) wall units may need changing to match any changes on the other side. On the sink wall i'd lose the 150 pull out beside the belfast sink and i'd have an integrated washing machine, I would also consider having a dishwasher though. For the island i'd lose the fridge (or integrate it) as this is causing gaps on the back of the island due to the extra decor panel, I'd have a pull out bin instead.
