Comments (4)Thanks Minnie and Gary. That sketch is fine. You've both suggested TV in the same place and build round that area. And that's where I was thinking of putting it too. The separate area behind the sofa adjacent to the fireplace looks inevitable, you've both suggested that. Which isn't a problem. I guess it's just too big of a room to try and make one space, everything would be too far apart. Just need to make sure I think carefully what that space will be used for so I don't waste it. Kids already have their own playroom so will be keeping it for the grownups!...See MoreIs tv mounted above a tall stove/fireplace too high
Comments (3)I agree with The Snug Ltd - Not only do T.V's above a fireplace ruin the focal point of the fireplace for me, it's just too hot. I found this interesting article which when read through explains why:- Digital Trends . I'm sure that the room can't be so small that it won't fit a small t.v on a little cabinet at the right height. We have one in our snug which rarely gets turned on, except for when the grandchildren come round. We watch TV in the lounge where it sits adjacent to the much larger fireplace. We did buy a larger T.V at one point, but took it back and changed it for a smaller one as it just dominated the room, and detracted from the Fireplace!...See MoreTV ABOVE A FIREPLACE
Comments (4)We had our TV above the fireplace. Real fire with logs and coal. The TV never got hot however, it was too high for eye level. It was ok for us but maybe bear in mind you can have eye and neck problems if its too high...See MoreLiving room fireplace shelving built-ins advice
Comments (0)Would love advice. We recently bought a new development condo and at the moment we don’t have shelves to display stuff/books. initially I was planning on hanging the TV above the ventless fireplace and doing a built-in like the picture however my neighbor just said he is having issues with his TV above the fireplace bc it gets too hot so now I am concerned and wondering if we are better off keeping the TV where it is, getting a bigger painting to hang above the TV(current one is just a joke and way too small) and doing floating shelves to the right that are longer since I think doing a built in on only one side would look silly. Would love peoples thoughts and advice. How can we make the TV work about the fireplace?...See MoreAkiva Projects Ltd
