Should I paint my kitchen cabinets?
Comments (159)Hi there. Completely agree with everyone, you should paint the cupboards. I really like the colours in this picture as I think that the slightly 'greyer' off white cupboards would tie in well with your beautiful grey tiles. You wouldn't necessarily have to go so light on your worktop as in this picture. The laminate you showed in your third picture is really nice, where is it from? Currently doing my kitchen and trying to find a laminate that I like!...See MoreNEED HELP FOR KITCHEN CABINETS
Comments (40)Hi all. I am done with my kitchen thanks to all of the Houzzer friends. I still need to install the two wooden shelves above the zink and I am waiting for stock to replace the top cabinets handles as the square handles I bought is to small. I will replace themwith the same as the bottom ones. I must mention that i could not find bronze handles anywhere in SA so i bought stainless steel and spray painted with RustOLeum. can you notice that the top cabinets is painted in a very light grey. Any more recommendations are welcome...See MoreDo I paint the cabinets?
Comments (40)If you want to paint, paint. I think I'd agree with the people who suggest professional re spraying though unless you love diy and love the idea of being able to change the colour yourself relatively quickly. I recently painted a dresser (heavily stained and varnished wood, nowhere near as nice as yours) and a chest of drawers (bog standard orange pine) and unless you can take the wood right back it takes coats and COATS and a lot of patience to get a good finish. It is worth it though! Personally, I'd go for a greyish blue on the bottom half, White worktops, and paint the uppers the same white as the tiles (there's nothing intrinsically wrong with them, a classic choice that won't date). Put in a steel splashback behind the cooker (it should be possible to fit over tiles) to tone with your handles and a hard wearing natural fibre rug on the floor to break up the dark grey. A few wood accessories and the usual bits and pieces to finish....See MoreWhat colour should I paint my cabinets?
Comments (31)I took your advice @alyson38 , @Fran and @Raumtastik and here is how it looks so far. I havent finished painting walls which will be SW Alabaster. I am currently trying to decide if I should do open shelving on either side of the kitchen window (I put some blue painter's tape where it would go) or some blinds (in natural wood looking woven linen, bamboo). It needs something there as it looks kinna blah....See Moreacr71
