Any ideas for what colour I shud stain

1. Fencing
2. Decking
3. Shelter poles
4. Also colour for material to make shelter more attractive and whr to buy this material from considering it will be in the elements?

I think a charcoal colour or a natural darker brown could look good for the shelter poles, but ideally get some plants to grow and wrap around them to give it some colour! What does everybody else think?

Take out the overgrown weed area and lay a faux grass area there instead - The Range do a good priced roll of faux grass or get real grass and keep it neat. Add some pots with coloured plants and use Cuprinol to paint the fence in one ( or two ) of their nice colours ( there's loads to choose from !)
Paint the uprights white - string some outdoor soft white lighting under the verandah and add a bistro set or wicker type sofa area if your budget allows !

Hello Amanda, : )) Do you mean in the kitchen? Yes a nice idea. I like flat plate too, but really plain. Well the best way to describe how I feel about certain alterations is to tell you about someone I knew who "did up" her flat to such a degree that she literally took away all that was characterful about it.. Sometimes it's best to leave things as their patina develops over time and results in something quite special. Restoration is one thing but you can also restore the life out of something and thus diminish in certain contexts the value- and so it's good to know when to stop.. So yes, I'm firmly in the camp suggesting leave them, but of course it's entirely your choice. : ))

go shopping or do some cooking :) the log fire is pretty much essential, so is the cup of tea, and rain is actually quite good for making me work instead of just looking out the window doing nothing... or on Saturday I cleared out my wardrobe and guess what...I found loaaaads of clothes that are actually fine so just as good as going shopping!!!:D

Hi Allison Curtains don't necessarily need to make a room feel small. The effect they have depends on the fabric used. Is there space to move the sofas away from the door at all? This would allow space for curtains that you could hang from a simple pole. The pole would ideally extend approx 15-20cms either side of the door so that the curtains have space to stack back. To keep them from making the room feel small whilst keeping them practical, you could have them made in an off white fabric but put a deep contrast binding along the base in the same colour as your feature wall. Moving the sofas into the room would also allow you to put a couple of lamps beside them - either sitting on small lamp tables or you could use floor standing lamps. This assumes, of course, that you have some sockets that you can plug them into. I hope this helps. Best wishes Lally

Lovely space Tani and I know what you mean about the warmth from the sun even on a chilly day. My considerably smaller kitchen is the same - the cosiest, warmest room in the house without any heating on at all. It’s like Siberia in the front room though ha! We bought an awning too and it’s just been fitted, so will help shade the room on a hot day, I hope!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/awning-fabric It looks as if you have the corrugated stuff on the pergola already so maybe try awning fabric as per link attached? Opt for waterproof rather than showerproof though. Re colours, do you want something pretty or contemporary? Agree with One Plans suggestions, you could make this area look really pretty and relaxing. You could even add a small self- contained water feature for interest and soothing noise!
