We have had our Miele 10 years and don't use salt, but we are in a soft water area. I would advise, firstly check your water area. You may need a lime scale balance, salt, no salt.....it depends on the he water. Secondly, clean your dishwasher on an empty run with a branded dishwasher cleaner. If these fail, try a different brand of tablet.

Lucy it's a Neff I89EH52NOB island hood. I think if I bought another I would go for the one without glass the I79MT64N1B which covers the whole hob area. I find I have to have mine on high power so that it pulls the steam from the pans on the flexi zone areas of the hob. I like the ceiling extractors but I wasn't sure how efficient and noisy they would be as they have to pull the steam from quite a distance. The flexi hob is amazing and I love having it on the island. Good luck with your renovation.

I always think an oven in a tower looks far nicer than a range. Plus you don't have to bend down to put items in or out. You can have a single or double oven then a separate steam oven. Having had built in ovens for as long as I can remember (probably 35+ years) there's no way I'd contemplate anything else. I like the look and convenience of it. I've heard before people question the size of them and that always puzzles me. I cook a lot and have no problems cooking a roast on one shelf, roast potatoes on another shelf and then Yorkshire puddings or parsnips on a third shelf all within the same oven. I also cook a large turkey every Christmas. No problem with space. Regarding hobs it simply has to be an induction hob. So fast, clean and cheaper to run than others. If you have the budget look for a decent brand e.g. Bosch, AEG, Neff or Miele.

Mine was an 800 before I removed the glass - the main fan section is smaller of course so I presume that it’s the actual canopy that makes the difference ie if the extractor canopy is 800 with an 800 hob then most of the steam that rises, should hit the top of the canopy and be drawn towards the extractor. Even though we removed the glass on ours, it will be set into a suspended wood canopy so in effect, the steam should do the same thing. I’m told induction hobs are super steamy, ha ha. We got a Neff extractor which is also v quiet so hoping it does the trick!
