Living Room Design Layout/Design Ideas

Would really appreciate any design/ideas, would like to put wood floor down as the front door is straight into the room and thinking grey and purple colour scheme but other than that I am totally stuck for inspiration

I like the grey and purple idea, Farrow and Ball Elephants Breath and Brassica would look great (see pic) or you could go more dramatic with Farrow and Ball Pelt as the room looks lovely and light, so could take strong colour. I think change the clock on the fireplace to a statement mirror and add some pattern with the soft furnishings. There's a bit of a French influence in the style of the console and there's a country feel to the fireplace, so for curtains maybe a check or ticking stripe, or if you want more French you could have damask or floral pattern, mix and match colour and patterns. Maybe add a rug to the new wood floor for a bit of texture.

On the console it would be nice to have a pair of matching lamps with some artwork on the wall above. Pull the footstool out and have in front of the sofa with a wooden tray on so you can use as a coffee table. If budget allows add a larger light fitting to the ceiling.

Hi, that's a wide request and needs to consider many things. Besides space specs, layout depends on furniture selection and needs. Style selection is a must before doing anything. There are plug sockets on every wall, two on the wall with the bit that comes out where the fireplace used to be, the layout image is just what I took from the estate agents listing for my house when I bought it :) I love the idea of adding the fireplace back in! I wasn't sure if it would make the room feel smaller or not but that inspiration image looks great

Hi Rachel, I would say avoid the thoroughfare area between the two doors and look at the area near to the window. Depending on how large your sofa is, I would be inclined to position it behind the door from the hall and the TV on the wall opposite. Alternatively you could look at a corner sofa and position it in-front of your 'corridor' area between the two doors (with it's back to the 'corridor' between the two doors) and the return part of the sofa on the wall next to the entrance to the kitchen. Really like the ideas thank you, I was thinking of having a sofa with a slight pattern so might have to keep it simple in the other areas though maybe :)
