How can I make my boring flat pack furniture look stylish.?
Comments (14)I love the colour of the furniture, but I would definitely find some new handles for them. Maybe something in lilac? Like a cut glass, or something ceramic and pretty. Look at Laura Ashley for inspiration but you can find cheaper versions, and usually just as well made, elsewhere. Match the wardrobe to the chest of drawers more and make them look even more refined. Also maybe put something above the wardrobe, like a trunk or something fitting to the room, to fill the space. Love how this looks already though, not much more and it'll be perfect....See MoreHow can we make the porch look modern, please help!
Comments (23)hi Neverforever, I think you really need to repair the entire side of the house- looking at the photos you provided, the entire side of the house look as though you have a number of spalled bricks, which have suffered from frost damage. whatever you decide as a finish , you should address these in the final decision to protect your home. I think that the amount of space lost at the side cladding the house in timber , would not lose a lot of space in the driveway. you have pipes at the side protruding at low level. Can you advise on the width of the space between the two houses. you own half of this width and have a right of way over the neighbouring house for driving your car, so this shouldn't really cause issues with the neighbour. A timber clad would provide a modern update to the look of the porch, whilst the render and paint would be a simpler update. you might want to look at external insulation and a render finish to the entire house. This is something the government is looking to push for improving the energy use of the housing stock in the uk. best Rowland...See MoreWhat can I do to make my living room look complete?
Comments (14)Agree about injecting colours - at the moment it is a bland room without any focal point. From your photo the picture - whilst it looks interesting - seems to be far too large for this room, or at least on this wall. Swap it for a smaller one, and place it level with the top of the windows. Replace the curtains with colour, match the same colour or similar to cushions on the settee, and a comfortable (but not too big) chair in the corner. There looks to be some sort of chair there, which seems out of place. If finances allow it, I would also replace the coffee table, as whilst glass tables seem a good idea, they take up space but do not add to the atmosphere of the room. Good luck, and let us see what you do....See MoreHow can I maximise usage of my porch (whilst making it look pretty) :)
Comments (8)My first thoughts are: 1. Create a full height built-in cupboard with doors around the boiler/electric, with a couple of shelves and potentially a rail to hang coats. 2. Relocate the dryer (is it blocking the electric meter cupboard?) or sell and get a washer/dryer combi? 3.Plaster the walls. If you're on a budget and handy, you can dry-line the walls (battens or dot & dab some plasterboard to the walls) then tape and fill the joints and paint (popular in America) without the cost of paying a plasterer to skim. 4. Can't see what's on the floor but a good coir entrance matt to fill the whole space would work....See MoreDawn Rimmer
