Fabric .. Help plan!

I am obsessed with fabric, made all the curtains and my kids rooms, usually always make pillows etc. this is the family room in our new house, and I am stumped. In the conversation below I will try to attach my inspiration fabrics, I'm just having trouble picking three or four they go together. I want a fabric to make cushions for the benches, and coordinating throw pillows.thank you!

Comments (17)Swveng, 20 ft x 8 ft is a difficult space to create one space. If I'm not mistaken, there would have been a wall about where the TV is now sited and a second working fireplace. Is it possible to remove the chimney breast where you no longer use a fire? This may involve removing the stack right up through the house and roof. If it's a possibility, you will gain more space at that end of your lounge and in the room above as well. You may also want to consider dividing the spaces again with a new stud wall. Should you keep the long space open and remove the chimney breast, the TV unit could be moved to that spot. Another 2 seater sofa could be positioned facing into this area at right angles to the brown sofa to create a TV viewing area. The other end of the room with the bay window could have the easy chair in the bay plus a games table with chairs in front of the fireplace. This can be a homework area as well for the family. Once you work out how to use the space and which furniture pieces you want to retain , if any, then you can decide the colour scheme....See MorePlease help me with kitchen plan!

I see where you are going with the symmetry for the wall with the aga, but I would make that tall end unit a pantry or place for serving plates, etc. and have the integrated fridge where you currently have the wood upper cabinet. I've been looking at your Ideabook and reading the aga discussion (I'm way behind minnie!) and I see what you are trying to achieve. But none of them have the same layout. When the feature aga corbel wall exists, it doesn't have an induction hob right next to it or it doesn't have a solid wall at the end (one of them is amazing with their deep cupboards either side but there is nowhere to put anything!). Do you have roof lights over the kitchen? Unless you have a giant lantern skylight and lots of under-cabinet lighting planned, please don't have black countertops. Apart from the fact that none of the kitchens in your Ideabook have dark counters, I come from a place of experience. I used to have a massive, terribly planned, kitchen with lovely black granite counters. Not only could only one person work in it even though it was the size of a dance floor, but the lights had to be on all the time and it was really depressing. Comments (3)I meant that you had drawn a run of units that was 20’ long and you could likely get a great kitchen into a smaller space, leaving room for dining. Attaching a dining table to the island is a stylish look and often helps people with insufficient room. Comments (25)I would have poo poo’d this idea before as I’d wonder what the point was, but make your self a mood board using the colours roughly in the same ratios. Are you planning on having some artwork as this may be the lynchpin that helps it hang all together. Pulling colours through from that will help the scheme. Tonal can be soft and soothing but needs layering up with texture to create a cohesive scheme. Alternatively pops of bright colour can look amazing and your kitchen is lovely and bright with good bones. What is the rest of your house like, and what is your style?...See More
8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoI think they feel too country cottage for your room and don't compliment each other or your room's style. Find one fabric you absolutely adore (maybe start with a pattern with a few colors and work from there, so there is a bit of repetition. Also think about the feeling you want and look for fabrics that bring that into the room. Tired to show examples of fabrics that felt casual and with an earthy feel, given it seems you like flowers.

I so agree that wall needs something. We just finished building so I really need to decorate and put personality in the room. Was thinking a narrow long sideboard with a collage wall above.
I do like a soothing tranquil space. Maybe a pop of color. I'm drawn to coral.
The wall color is Ben Moore moonshine .

Brenna, I've always loved fabrics as well..even when I shop for clothes I reach out to touch the fabric to test the quality! Your choices look much more modern than the originals. Wondering though if the floral and the stripe again feel a touch country..what about an Ikat pattern instead of the floral and a more modern stripe?

7 years agoWhat a beautiful space! Based on your selections this is what I would choose. This has a mix of movement, geometrics and a solid in a different texture. These are all from Tonic Living.
