What colour to paint the hallway

I really want either a shade of grey or a white in the hallway but not sure. I want something that would really work well with the white skirting boards so I was thinking of a dark grey, but not sure if a lighter grey would be good to go for and more timeless. There is going to be a mirror as a main focus point on the back wall and the coat stand is going to vanish. Thinking of red as the highlight colour so accessories will be in red. What do you think - colour suggestions welcome. Thanks

I would paint the walls a warm white to make the hall light and bright. Personally I would avoid grey because it would clash with the golden tones in your floor. I would definitely have a mirror and accessories in neutral tones of black/silver/white. I quite like your coat stand, handy for visitors but if there's wardrobe space to hang your coats and jackets up I would store them there for a tidier look in the hall.

Stay away from cool grey's as they will clash with the floor. However it's possible to get warmer grey tones that will probably work. Try the Dulux Colour palette. I picked out a couple and you could have a darker accent wall at the end of the Hallway, it will make it look longer, and make your mirror stand out. I'd definately stay away from white as it will be too stark with white skirting and white doors. I'd also stay away from Red for the contrast. Depends on the tone, but bright reds and greys together are too much and a little dated. Look on the colour palette and go for opposites if you wish, but maybe raspberry, plum etc. Greens and Blues go better with the grey / grey beige and are more on trend these days. You can order sample pots online and they're only a £1......so choose away.

Hi, congrats on your new home! Very exciting. This space appears to be either north facing or just not an area with a lot of warm light...I have been helping quite a few clients with this dilemma lately and here are a few tips for you. North facing/lowlight rooms can be difficult to decorate as the natural light coming through will have blue/grayish undertones. This could make some paint colours look dingy or too cold (which I think is happening now). Warm grey works well in north facing/low-light rooms and here are a couple color combos from Dulux which you can get at B&Q. Just make sure the undertones are warm (not blue or grey). Dulux also has a ‘Light and Space’ paint finish that is supposed to reflect light in the room. https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/products/dulux-light-space-matt. Just wanted to say such a lovely hallway and I wouldn't say it's dark at all!!! Please don't counteract your dark feeling by painting it all light. It needs colour, what I'm not sure but it's going to be lovely!!
