So funny! I'm planning to paint the bannister at the new house (TNH) black and am veering towards painting the treads and risers black too... I've been searching for images of black staircases on Houzz and putting them in my entrance hall ideabook. They are few and far between. In your case, I think, with your white walls, maybe the stairs white and the bannister black? (Assuming the white walls continue up the stair walls enabling the b/w contrast.) You've already put black firmly into the equation, adding some more may give more reason for the black rad cab. In my case, there is a very off-centre radiator that could so very easily have been directly opposite the front door in TNH which is rather annoying as it stuffs up the focal point. We are leaving here with every radiator covered with a cabinet - and going to TNH that has loads of radiators ...but no cabinets! Yes, the work ahead is daunting - especially since the area of Ireland we're going to is very basic and not full of DIY resources, etc. I keep thinking I'll paint TNH white - to make things simpler(!) But try as I may colour keeps wandering through my mind! Lovely to be in touch again!

Okay here is the room in progress...... I kind of feel like everything is falling apart a little bit and I need some feedback. The wall colour will be the very pale grey tester patch just above the sofa. Those standing lamps are going and will be replaced by table lamps on the side tables. The 2 mirrors you can see leaning on the floor either side of the sofa will be hung symmetrically on either side of sofa after the room is painted. Where I feel disappointed: the rug is smaller than I'd like but I think it's pretty. The sparkly throw is also smaller than I'd like. The yellow cushions arrived today and the colour is different to what I expected. I'm not sure if the colours are working, are they?? Help please! Finally, I've ordered the below lamps for the side tables but they've not arrived yet. Do you think they will work or not? Panicking a bit now.

OK all, I have a website!! http://www.lucianastatues.com/ It's almost finished, I haven't started on the blog or added an 'About' page, as I'm not sure what to write yet. It went live a couple of days ago but then had some glitches, and the absent-minded geek (I have his approval to call him that) who made the site told me not to advertise it until he takes care of them. Everything is working now; I could say I have 2 websites, as he built another one for me initially that I didn't like that much. It was probably the wet dream of a webdesigner, with lots of features and pop-ups and hexagonal inserts (don't ask...!) but just too fancy for my needs. So I told him to keep it simple, sat down with him for a few hours and hurray!! - I think he's done a great job. This site is just straightforward and easy in my opinion, simple to use and with large photos that help with seeing the details. I would appreciate some feedback though, so please let me know what you think. I'm still not sure about prices, I mostly charge by how tall the figure is and how much I like it:)). Next week is gallery touring, I'm going to Birmingham tomorrow to a craft fair, but mostly to look and maybe buy supplies, not to sell http://www.thenec.co.uk/whatson/hobbycrafts# My main problem at the moment is that I ran out of stock! :)) I sold a few more things, but they were commissioned, so they don't appear on the site. Didn't have time to make a lot of new pieces, so some of the stuff that's there is mostly things I would've liked to keep or had on reserve, but now decided to sell them. I knew starting all this will leave me less time to play...... Plus my geek gave me a task list with stuff to do to promote the website, and I'm supposed to write that blog every couple of days..... Anyway, my gratitude again for your help and support. As I said, I'd appreciate some feedback on the site. HI Wayne B, Glad you like one of the lights. If you go ahead and buy it come back to us and we'll do you a nice little discount. Yes sure, know what you mean, sorry to preach, I understand you are looking more at the shape of the tube for your light but how that fits onto the lamp holder part is the complex bit. And that's the bit, the electrical part I was a tad concerned about as the shade will need something to be fabricated especially for it, otherwise it won't hold that shade on to the lamp holder part. I just didn't want you to buy something that wasn't exactly right for the purpose you want it for. Forgive me for butting in if you know exactly what you're doing, I butt out again! I'm not expert at much, but lighting is something in which I have a fair bit of knowledge to share - that and eating chocolate! but as I don't share chocolate or chocolate eating it tips that may not help you. And too be fair, a choc bar a day is not helping me very much either!! Great that you are looking at using LED bulbs, you're right they are much cooler to the touch so safer in acrylic and plastic lampshades and have the added extra bonus they save lots of money on the running costs too, if your plan works that's certainly the right way to go.
