Need help with a couple of things for my kitchen

Hi,

I am struggling to find two cool white under cabinet LED Lights that will work in the UK. My electrician has dumped this job onto me :)

He said I needed these:

Left side: 1.5m – LED Strip

Right side: 1.1m – LED Strip

If low voltage, transformer required as the power will be coming from a 240v wall switch

I am also searching for a nice splash back that will suit my new kitchen which has all oak units. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What a beautiful and perfect table you found! Hubba hubba - those legs are just gorgeous. Well done and thanks for calling out to me. As for the chair mix, I think four beige and two merlot would be lovely. I think you like a traditional look, so I'm a bit worried that you won't be happy with it. If the table will normally be smaller with four beige chairs around it and maybe put the two merlot ones on either side of the radiator cover/"console", then definitely do the mix. Mismatched chairs around a dining table are often all different or the same make and model in a multitude of colours or the same colour in different styles. Do a Houzz search and see if you can find your planned mix and if you like the look. If in doubt, get four beige and look at them for a while! You could tie the two chair colours together with little cushions on the chairs - maybe just on the two merlot ones. Hi Caro, I have attached two images of wall paper that I think you compliment your kitchen. The green and blues in these wallpapers would harmonise with the existing titles and highlight the height of the room. From your ideas book it seems you like repeat patterns, both of these styles suggest a 60s feel whilst remaining contemporary. As you can see in the second photograph, the pattern and colours sit very well with the dark shiny worktop, similar to the one you mention putting in at a later date. The first wallpaper is affordable and ethically sourced. Let me know what you think

Hello! Painting your units is a good way to make the kitchen feel fresh and new without spending a bomb on it, and makes the kitchen feel a bit more 'you'. The colours you are suggesting sound great, the pitch blue is a really bold colour that I think could look quite quirky and a little quaint, the one down side is it you have don't have much light it will absorb a lot of it and make the kitchen seem darker but I suppose you are the best to gauge this since it depends on where your windows face and all sorts. If you want the colours to be forgiving on the bottom, use the more forgiving finish on the bottom too and the same on the top to match. Replace the handles without leaving a mark means using some all purpose filler (or wood filler if you have it/feeling fancy enough to buy some especially) to fill in the holes with an old butter knife and scraping off the excess, leaving this to dry then using sand paper to make it flat, don't be afraid to scratch into the wood a little since you will be painting over it before fixing on the new handles. P120 sandpaper will give a much better finish than P60 but will take longer, P values can range but the higher the number the better the finish (P60 would mean that there are 60 bits of grit on average occupying a quare inch so the grit particles are larger than P120 paper) for the work you are doing I'd recommend P120.

Hi Debbie. I would go for a luxury vinyl tile in a wood wood effect such as karndean etc. I'm not sure which way the room faces and light affects colour so much but I might get testers of farrow and ball churlish green and cooking apple green which should work with the cobalt blue (you could just do a feature wall against the table). I'd look at an ikat blind combining both colours (have only had a quick look but something like the 3rd pic). Can the thing next to the toaster move so you can add a potted herb? Perhaps also some colour for canisters? I'd also add a few limes in the fruit bowl. You could also add a jug of flowers on the table, I'd go for earthenware (perhaps in white) to add texture and there are some good faux flowers around as an alternative. If you want more texture you can always drape a throw over one of the chairs
