Should I put some lighting above my dining table?

Hello guys.. I really need some suggesion.. My dining table and my table bar are side by side, and I put 3 lighting above my table bar and I think do I need also to put lighting hang above my dining table?.. I'm confuse.. Because my dining table looks empty.. And yes i have the LED lighting from the ceiling but I dont know why my dining table looks very empty. Any idea for me? what do you guys think?

Would you not just put a large ceramic vase on table to add a focal point and some colour?

Hi, It looks like you have a sideboard behind the table? I would put a lamp on that for extra light and put candles and flowers, fruit bowl etc in the centre of the table to add some colour, interest and height.

Hi Charlotte - I like the Eames chairs suggested above and, as classic furniture, they won't date; I think the image supplied by Ana really sets the scene well. If you want to consider other classic chairs, there is the Series 7 by Jacobsen which comes in a multitude of colours - we supplied those below in this neutral scheme but paler coloured / white chairs would suit your proposed decor. Carl Hansen Wishbone Chairs are also timeless, and worth a look; they come in fewer colours, but are very stylish.For a softer feel, fabric chairs might also work for you - again with some colour. As for putting a rug beneath, I've seen a multitude of photos with this feature, which look fine in the photo, but I've never considered the idea practical; I would be concerned about rucking the edges with the chair legs and the area beneath the table can get quite dirty with crumbs. I think you will break up the wood-on-wood look with more interesting chairs, so personally I would avoid a rug. Hope this helps. Nick

Hi Angel This a a common questions and it always comes down to what minor things you can sacrifice to get the best of all worlds. Do I have a pendant to create a dining zone? Do I try and retain the view outside? Do I make the space versatile for parties? In my opinion a light over the table looks great if you do not have one already over the kitchen island (if you have one). Keep the light above head level (of most of your usual guests) so that you can talk to each other . It may be worth cutting out cardboard and offering it above the table to see what works for you. The light doesnt have to be too imposing it could be something light the light below. or maybe something that is a feature but still see through like the below There are not many rise and fall lights out there that can really reduce that much to be out of the way on a standard height ceiling but if you have tall ceilings then it could work. I got these recently from Matalan! Only £20 and personally I love the shape https://www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2668224_c000/tear-drop-shaped-pendant-1-25m-x-0-33cm-x-0-25m-white I like the idea of having a hook to centre it above the table. Another option could be to have an arc floor lamp potentially. I think additional lamps on the other side of the room would probably be good regardless, for overall lighting

I agree with OWL the wall light is unnecessary- in its place put an extra downward spotlight. Since you are adding lights I would add some additional lights at the side. Separately I think you will find these types of light are not intrusive because they face downwards and are low voltage- instead I think they make houses look welcoming

Thank you Angela.. I will.. Its becuz my house is very new.. I even not buy some furniture.. I will do that.. Thank you to tell me that.. ☺ Im sorry im still try to learn how to decor my house... lol.. Im still learning.. lol..
