Orla Kiely wallpaper.. But what colour paint for walls?
Help ! I am having this wallpaper for a feature wall. However, i thought i was going to paint the remaining walls in a light grey.. But now i am not sure if i should go light cream for walls to conplement the background of the wallpaper or if grey is ok ? Furniture is grey , with yellow cushions and a lime snuggler sofa and remaining furniture is light oak.

Comments (27)Have decided on a pale green by Albany called Seafoam. It is quite light so I can always go darker. Not really into matching bedding fabric to wallpaper but will enjoy picking up the accent colours to be found in the paper as a whole. I remembered today that I actually had a beautiful green on walls of my first studio flat over a decade ago - how could I forget my first love!! Comments (13)Thanks for all your comments, I shall try to fill in a few gaps I'm aiming at a reclaimed oak floor throughout, but it will depend on the funds I can get together in the next couple of months (fingers crossed) The orange wall does look like a colour block on the picture but I've included a sample of how it looks close up I must admit that I did think it was a bit too much but it will be mainly covered with artwork with lighter frames ( I collect aboriginal bark art so that might have coloured my choice of paper ) The sofa is a really large ( 8 - 10 seat ) corner sofa, chocolate brown leather, cushioned in chocolate brown and lighter beige ( haven't got photos of it because it's still in storage ) as I've mentioned most of my furniture is mid to dark (20's / 30's ) oak bookcase, bureau and display cabinet ... pretty brown all round I took a couple of photos on the way past earlier but the light wasnt too good and the wide shot I took made the window wall look convex but it really isn't Thanks again for your input...See Morewhat colour to paint walls
Comments (3)I quite like the white tbh. I think it it’s the blueish light coming from above where the the washing machine is that makes it look a little drab. Is there a skylight there or different lighting? I do like the wallpaper, possibly paper the washing machine wall the same to give that area some extra interest and warmth. Is the washing machine going to be concealed? Just thinking a continuous run of units would look much neater. If you did want to re paint then I think perhaps just a warmer shade of white but not yellowy. I have narrowed it down to these two shades from Farrow and ball. Stony ground is the winner so far. Thoughts?

Use both, one opposite Orla wallpaper, other colour on other two walls, will look like the light playing with the walls!

7 years agoI was looking for advice on exactly the same dilemma! We have chosen Orla Kiely Giant Abacus for a feature wall in the living room. Grey background, cream petals with an olive centre. We have a cream carpet and cream leather suite with mid grey armchair and room doesn't have big windows, so trying to maximise the light. What colour would you suggest for the other walls?
