What type of towel rail is it?

I am wondering if I should use an electric towel rail or one attached to the CH system. I was told I could not put towel rails at the end of the bath which has a shower in it as well.,

Thanks for your enquiry and it is always good to check. The Ferroli towel warmer in the image is actually dual fuel which means that it is part of the central heating (CH) system and also has a heating element connected to a remote switch so that you can still warm your towels when the CH is off. You may be familiar with ingress protection - IP ratings - and the zones in which such electrical items can be fitted in relation to water splash and spray (you can look these up on line or ask your electrician). This particular fitting has an IP64 rating, the second digit relating to water ingress (the higher the figure the better the protection). A 3 rating would mean that a fitting is protected against sprayed water up to 60 degrees from vertical (so our fitting with a 4 is higher than this); the 4 rating permits water splashed from all directions, with limited ingress permitted. You would need a 5 rating if you expect water from a low pressure nozzle to impact the fitting in the form of a jet. So from a practical viewpoint, in this situation, it was fine to fit such a towel warmer at the end of the bath. Indeed, surprisingly little spray actually reaches the end wall in practice. As a footnote to the above, I have just had a look at another of these fittings directly and this was actually rated at IPX5 - so, in principle, an even higher ingress protection for the application being discussed. Thanks. Nick

Hi, I'm not sure why a radiator heated from the central heating would not be permitted. I'm not aware of any water regulations that would stop it (that's not saying there aren't!). What reason was given? Will the radiator be directly over the bath or on the wall lower than the bath? Electrically, there are zones in a bathroom. Any electrical equipment placed inside a zone must be suitable for that zone. Here is an explanation of the zones: http://electrical.theiet.org/wiring-matters/53/section-701/index.cfm I suspect that the radiator would be in zone 1, possibly zone 2. The radiator (and wiring supplying it) to be suitable for that zone. My thoughts are to check with a radiator manufacturer about installing a plumbed radiator next to the bath and see what they say. I have two sets for each of the three bedrooms so couples staying can easily tell which towels are whose. They match or blend with the decor of the bedroom and the bathroom/shower room. I love colourful towels and I love colourful patterned towels even more. They can be hard to find and when I find them, I buy.

Thank you both. Victoria - like the idea of the vanity there with the toilet on the same side but i think with the space to the toilet it would feel very cramped as there would only be around 40cm between the vanity and toilet in which to stand. I know it's a concession but do you think having a 600 vanity and if i can run the waste round the left wall this would be the best option on the layout? It of course all depends on what the plumber can manage with the waste but hopefully there is a solution!
