Need help with lounge layout and design …
Comments (17)Sneaky thing, not sharing the rug with us! But you're right, the colours are v difficult; the pink is wrong -- if it were terracotta I think it'd be great. The fireplace space: of course, if you have a millionaire to schmooze, a great piece of sculpture. My go-to instead of sculpture is tree branches, from the year's winter pruning. Not funny sticky things bought from a shop, something you find that you think is a beautiful shape, art from nature just as it is. In a floor vase with a narrow neck. Can you get out into the country, or a big park, at pruning time? A real branch can last pretty well forever, you don't need to do it every year....See MoreSmall flat with awkward layout
Comments (3)Thanks! An interesting alternative (particularly the kitchen). However I still would like to keep the sleeping area somewhat separated from reception (as a result I had the sliding/folding glass partition idea). I did bring around couple of builders and the verdict is that it should be possible to move plumbing. And I do think that the bathroom takes up way too much space (relative to total area). For example a shower like the below could save quite a bit of space?...See MoreLounge / Dining room layout help - Please :)
Comments (10)Hello, Mark! I'm Gabriela, a designer from Akiva Projects. First of all, you really have great ideas for your lounge/dining room! I don't see why not leave the fireplace where it is now and still do what you want - a false chimney breast built with an electric fire and TV built into it. By doing that you would have an advantage on your side: you will have the possibility of building a storage in the same wall of the fireplace using the thickness of the pillars that you have - a great way of blending them on the room! I really think that this could add value to your lifestyle. We offer a fantastic design service and would be happy to offer our advice. Comments (3)Hi Jade. The room is small and it is also the walkway to the back f the house, which further obstruct its functionality. If you are keen to keep the living room separated from the kitchen, then your furniture layout is probably the only way to go. I would advise you to consider taking down the wall to the kitchen and create an open plan. It will make the space feel spacious and you might even consider a different layout: Place the kitchen at the rear on the right wall, place your lounge on the opposite wall facing the kitchen, put a room-dividing furniture in between with the TV inside and place the dining table where the lounge is now. You can get a really contemporary looking comfortable space. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any further questions, I will be more than happy to help. just drop me a line or visit www.betterspace.co Good luck, Avi...See MoreFrithRugs
