Hi there, I love this photo as it shows exactly what I am trying to achieve in my kitchen. Are you able to please send me the dimensions of the corner seated area and the distance of the island from the table? If there are any other photos available of the kitchen I wold be very grateful if I could see these. Thank you so much ! !!!

Not knowing the dimensions on the photo but you should allow minimum width of 2'5ft per person for seating and 3ft ideally as distance from edge of island to table .. hope that helps . Robert

Thanks active builders, I thought 1.8m depth for the wet area - assuming bath is 80cm wide that leaves 1m depth for the showering area, but then that only leaves 1.2m to fit basin and toilet, which I thought might be a bit tight? We don’t really want a small basin as this is the main bathroom. My other option is to have toilet and washbasin opposite each other in the 1.2m run, but then this leaves a 80cm gap between toilet and washbasin and not sure if this would look a bit cramped?

If you are thinking to tuck a chair under so that’s out of the way, I would perhaps go He length of a chair and just over, to give room to put things on the desk itself. I measured my standard minimal but comfy dining chair and that was 40cm excluding the backrest. So perhaps go 45cm wide? Also think about using a ‘leggy’ chair, just like in the photo so it doesn’t take much visual space.

rinq good point. Here is what we have so far. Some notes: - The rest of the plan has changed slightly so I don't want to waste people's time commenting on that. I will upload our final draft in a new post when we have it for feedback on the whole plan. - The main room in question has had 1m added along the horizontal to make it 8.90m long. - We have decided we want to swap the kitchen and dining rooms. - The front door has also been removed from that back wall (the bottom of the plan) so that back wall is now doorless. The front door is now located where the word "screenshot" is conveniently located. :D Ellie good questions. The house is being designed now. The architects have suggested a room this size based on feedback we gave them. Now we have it drawn up we don't love it. For example, I hate having the back of the sofa in the way of the hallway there. I think that is terrible design. It all looks cramped to me. There are 3 of us in this home. In the plan above you can see a rectangle in the top right with the lines across it. That is a closed in porch/veranda so there is some living space there too. Otherwise, this is it. minipie thanks very much. It's good to know it works for you and yours. I've added the proposed zoning above and wondered if that resembled yours in any way?

Walk in shower - what dimensions!!

I have a 1400 x 800 shower, was going for walk in but bathroom fitter advised against it. We have a sliding door, easy clean, expensive one. I am glad i didn't go for the walk in because honestly 1400 is too small. Why not go for 1600 with a walk in, or 1400 with sliding door. By the way the small gap can he easily sorted by your tilers. They'll make recommendations when they come n to quote. Such a common problem for them to solve. I'll try to attach a pic of my showerso hopefully you'll see that 1400 ight be too small for a walk in.
