Comments (44)HiTino Felly, Marie Here. Your off to a great start - but you've made a common mistake in that you've found your inspiration for your colour palette, but your not committing to it. You need to bring the greens and blues up onto the walls and onto the floor - commit to it. You could: - add a great throw rug underneath the bed, - add big table lamp beside the bed - or better yet, a wall sconce, - drapery isn't really the best choice for this bedding - I would have brought in a bold graphic print here, in either the blue or the green - artwork can stay neutral - even do a collection of mixed metals in chrome, gold, and have fun with that - if you add too much in the blue and green it becomes boring and un-special. Choose your accessories carefully, I'd change out your drapery - go with something bolder, I'd also get a larger night stand so you could put a proper table lamp there. Good Luck!...See MoreHow do I decorate my guest bedroom?
Comments (15)Hi. Nice paper but as the room is east facing the silver may look just a little cold? If you do go for a pale but warm stone on the walls I might go for a stone wallpaper. This one is cream but may work as the pattern looks to be in stone (but will look elsewhere). I really like the idea of papering just behind the bed (missed that before, thought you just meant the bed ŵall!) but I do think you'll need to build a frame for it from beading but that will be cheap to do. I wouldn't go excessively low on the light just for people sitting up/climbing into bed but you should get away with slightly lower than normal. If you're after damask this may work from bhs plus it's on offer atm and it's an easy fit if you were still thinking along those lines http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/premier-province-wallpaper---cream-144790 http://www.bhs.co.uk/en/bhuk/product/home-lighting-furniture-2565866/ceiling-lights-2809354/easy-fit-2805454/mocha-jemima-easy-to-fit-ceiling-light-5113620?bi=1&ps=40&qbDiscount=20#BVRRWidgetID...See MoreWhat colour should I paint bedroom fireplace and wardrobes?
Comments (16)Hello Nicola E, How you treat the paint work entirely depends on what you want to stand out.. The fireplace or the wardrobes.. This too depends on what else is happening in the room... If just a bed then it's entirely possible to create a feature of said wardrobes by painting them a bolder colour or the chimney breast a darker colour.. Look at the room and consider what you'd like to have as a focal point and how big the room is.. Shades of cream and off whites are far nicer than white.. So if you decide to include a white scheme, definitely look at shades of off white and creams.. Little Greene has a lovely range of chalky colours.. such as Whitening, White Lead, Stock etc.. These can be chosen for wood and walls.... They give a warm, chalky and sophisticated look which can blend beautifully with colours such as Celestial blue or James just to talk of blue and these are warm not cold blues .. I also like Juniper Ash which is a slightly mauve colour but look for warm versions of a colour you like.. So if the fireplace is to stand out and the wardrobes are a pale creamy colour the accent and focus is the fireplace which will benefit if the room is smaller than you'd like.. If you have a large bed then this might be the best way to consider it. If the room is large and you want something to create a statement then consider the fireplace and wardrobes.. A shade or two darker for wardrobes than chimney breast will create a frame surrounding both the fireplace and for the bed if this is facing on the opposite wall.. Blend the bedding and cushions, should you choose them into the scheme to create a cohesive and stylish finish. Lastly if you want a pale room with painted wardrobes these will form a statement and frame if you have less in the room... : )) Blended.... Contrast... This one isn't a bedroom but you get the idea.....See MoreDark dark bedroom walls what colour carpet
Comments (5)Dear Claire, I'd choose wooden floors any day over carpeted floors as they're much more durable and give an airier feel, however if you end up agreeing with your husband on having the room carpeted I'd recommend a warm grey carpet like my design shows below: When it comes to a wooden floor a whitewashed look might look modern but could provide too harsh a contrast, instead I'd opt for a mid-tone warm grey or pale brown. Hope this helps! Irene...See MoreKathryn Grove
