Help with storage cupboard
Hi there!
We've knocked down the wall between 2 cupboards in the hall to create 1 storage cupboard. We'll have sliding doors along the length of the new cupboard (we've put up a wall just avove "hall" in the floorplan). The challenge we face is the depth - 93cm. How do we maximise the space with such a deep cupboard? We plan on storing a mixed range of things in there (suitcases, hoover, ironing board, washing machine & tumble dryer, spare blankets etc). Does anyone have experience in building such a cupboard from scratch? We'd also like to have some sort of a pull out shoe storage system.
I'm also looking for a builder for this work ( we're in North London).

It looks like the washing machine will find its way into next door’s ‘Garage’/ covered patio where it will be boxed in as you suggested Jules. You’re right this is quite a common in these parts of the planet. I also think something like a bespoke cupboard/cabinet would then be a good option including the Louvre doors on rails as Jonathan suggested. Blocking the window and loosing a fair bit of space is probably too big a sacrifice. Oh and yes, possibly move the fridge to the wall with the window where a fridge always used to be located before the renovation. I will sadly have to swop this little hot paradise for the cold UK again very shortly (well, I’m actually quite looking forward to going home) but will keep you posted on developments as and when. Comments (9)Many thanks for your comments. Getting the kids (& husband...) to at least put their shoes and coat IN the cupboard is already an every day battle. It won’t be at all possible to ask them to put those somewhere else. My shoes and cost are already in my wardrobe to make space; but realistically, I cannot expect them to do the same... I have installed 2 motion-activated lights in the cupboard. However with the coats in the way, it is only partially illuminating the shoes. The main problem is access to the shoes racks. I have seen pull out shoes racks, but it seems to be more for side cupboard of stairs (see pictures). I never saw anything for « front » under stairs cupboard, when coat and shoes are on top of each other. I am happy to rip out and replace this cupboard with something else (eg asking a carpenter for a specific design) if anyone as suggestions/ideas :) I cannot think of any practical solution... :(...See MoreStorage for kitchen cupboards tops

Comments (18)if the images you've attached are accurate then your designer hasn't allowed for any infill between the boiler cupboard and the wall, if you have the boiler cupboard sitting on the worktop and its a single door then you won't be able to have the upstands as the door won't open. i think the only option you have is the smaller boiler cupboard and box the pipework underneath and run the upstand around the boxing....See More

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoDivide each section into,what required below is what I have built for a client separate washing and drying with shelf above, half height hanging and deep storage shelving all adjustable,
Then adjustable shelving floor to ceiling, these are about 900 mm deep and all behind closed doors, doors around 400 mm wide so as not to open out wide into the room you could fit pull out drawers into one of these sections for your shoes etc. I realise you want sliding doors!.
