Need an space saving seating concept for open plan area
Comments (2)Push your dining table up by the built in seating leaving room for a small sofa and possibly one modern feature chair. At meal times, they can sit at the built in seating as it will make them higher up at the table. Define the 'lounge' area with a rug. Keep the children's area over by the shelving and have a small low desk area included in the shelving system for them to sit at which would remove the need for kids table and chairs....See MoreOpen-plan Kitchen-Livingroom in period-style flat - Can I pull it off?
Comments (8)Hi everyone, The floor plan is a little inaccurate. The staircase leading down, next to the current bathroom is actually access to the rear shared-garden. The stairs leading up to the flat start below the current bathroom, under the storage cupboard and the top of the stairs ends parallel to the word "landing" in the floorplan. Judging by your comments and consulting with a few contacts, I agree that swapping the bathroom and kitchen is the right way to go. Secondly, I'll move the entrance to the door to the garden stairs into the corridor, and close off the new bathroom. The idea of extending the kitchen into the landing is interesting but, as I have loft access, I was thinking of installing fixed or "pull down" stairs to access it. I plan to insulate and board-out the loft and perhaps install Velux windows. I'm certain this will add value. I think extending the kitchen to the point where it's level with the rest of the LR wall should be possible. The idea of having the sliding doors separating the kitchen from the LR is really good, if I can find suitable ones that tie into the rest of the property. Time to start researching!...See MoreHelp please finish off my open plan area
Comments (7)I would change the table to lengthways as well to align it directly under the two pendant lights. Move the sofa away from the wall it looks too shoved back. Put it so the front feet are over the rug to stop the rug ‘floating’. Also move The two chairs in from the window and maybe pop a round occasional table between them. for the kitchen I would paint the units all in the same colour as the media unit. Then you would not have to change the splashback, tiles or worktops. The long cupboard end looks imposing so blending the colour more will help it to visually disappear. find another place for the bin or a smaller bin. Nice space!...See MoreClosing off an open plan kitchen?!
Comments (13)I love what you've done to the space since you last posted :) Since the sink is covered anyway could you just have a small divider on the left hand side? I can't find the perfect image but you get the idea. Hopefully it would block Some of the sound although I always have music on when entertaining anyway! I know I mentioned the change in floor before but the first image looks good...See Moret_cro
