Please help with tips and ideas to create some character to my living room!?
Comments (10)HI -- I like the red wall but I think the whole room in that would be too much. So right now you need to cut down the contrast of the red wall . Paint a light cream tan on the other walls and also on the ceiling but leave the crown the same color. This will tone down the red and accent the crown molding. You could also use a blueish grey in the same way. Or you could also use a grey with a hint of lavender . Get some color sample cards or pots (benjamin moore paints). Get an idea of the color before you paint the whole area....See MoreHelp please for my living room!
Comments (23)There just isn't enough in the room, but all these things come with time and money. I don't think the leather sofa gives at all in the room, it looks really small and heavy looking compared to the new gorgeous one and the chair at the back serves no purpose and looks kinda dumped there. Pictures, side tables with objects on them a rug, large basket with logs or books in it. Don't be afraid to mix things, I have urns, a wooden horse, lanterns, candelabra in my room varying sizes, some real statement pieces. A set of pictures always looks nice too, 4 or 6 together. TK Max is a great place to pic up one off unusual bits for the home it's where I get most of mine from. P.s a nice big mirror always looks great too. Comments (16)Have you thought of rearranging the furniture so the tv isn't the focal point? Furniture against walls can make a room appear smaller. If the budget permits I would add a coffee table to bring furniture into the middle of the room. I would also add a mirror to the dining area to bounce light and maybe install a low hanging pendant light over the table. I would also choose a neutral coloured rug as using a single colour for an item becomes the focal point. Grey is a good modern neutral for walls. If you want to use paper on a smaller wall choose a small pattern that won't date unless you don't mind repapering to keep it up to date. There are some really fantastic papers around at the moment such as chinoiserie, bold contemporary and typography but it depends on your preferred style? Maybe use plain (not patterned as this may date or your taste will change) velvet or silk curtains to soften the room. Use different colours and textures for the accessories to avoid block colours as per comment above. Pattern/interest can also be added in the form of wall art....See MoreHow can I perfectly incorporate this item in my living room corner?
Comments (1)Hi Miguel That's a beautiful looking fireplace - where will you be getting that from? We too are going for a corner fireplace and have decided on this layout, not sure if it will work with your window, but if you just google corner fireplaces you will hopefully get some ideas...See More- Kiya Kelly7 years ago
