Plenty room for a dining end/area in your room. Suggest a rug in the lounge section -same length as the sofa- to help define and separate each part of the room. Also makes for a cosy look and feel. Currently you have a roman blind in the lounge area and this is the best treatment for that window- suggest some colour and pattern to the fabric in a new blind, coordinating with the rug. The photo suggests floor length curtains in the dining area? Is there patio doors behind? If so again new curtains would be best option - full length and with colour and pattern as in lounge. Look at Prestigious Textiles fabric ranges for ideas. I suggest floor lamps in the lounge and a couple if small side tables rather than a coffee table. Try Dwell for side tables to match with your dining table i.e. gloss white- this will pull the two areas of the room together whilst keeping them as distinct spaces. Doing this will make the room seem bigger actually.

I don’t think this is good Feng Shui but I’d go for mirrored wardrobes to make the room feel bigger and make sure storage is taken up to the ceiling. I’d also look for a storage bed that’s on legs as it will make the room feel visually a little larger than one sat straight on the floor. Not sure if this is your thing but taking influence from the photos and alto saxophone I’d go for something with influences from the jazz era (or nearly!). A tufted bed would be great and will make a statement. If in budget I’d look for taller bedside tables (height of mattress, this is from Rockett St George as are the lights) and taller lamps, ideally when sat up the base of the lamp shade should be level with your chin). I’d look at a muted emerald green feature wall and add texture and pattern with warm neutral colours and a faux fur throw, pink would also look good but you may not be keen (!) or a deep teal/petrol blue. Maybe a brass starburst or molecular light over the bed as you can afford to hang it lower. A palm print blind could work and would also add a plant for the bedside table

Like I said, anything over 8mm is overkill. If you’ve had issues in the pay then the cabinets have not been fixed & installed well enough. Industry standard is 8mm for a reason. B&Q etc are cheaper because 1. They have the monopoly & 2. They come flat pack & 3. Theres Limited choice in colours & sizes. They also use cheaper materials Upgrading to MCF egged with other companies (such as DIY) is the what gives the extra quality. Note they are still 8mm backs. In fact, there’s a lot of info on the DIY kitchen website about carcasses

I too suggest painting it. Makes such a difference. You’d need to get in touch with a decorator/painter for a quote as it varies considerably depending on where you live. It is a fiddly job and some painters don’t undertake this kind of work. Some on the other hand specialise in this so ask around for quotes.
