Wood/pallet Wall??

I wonder if anyone out there has installed a "pallet wall" or similar? We would like to add one into our lounge to go behind the TV. At the moment we are debating whether to use off cuts of new cedar or source some wood from old pallets, or possibly old floor boards. Can someone tell me an easy method to install and any suggestions how to approach this idea? We will also need to mount a TV speaker to the wall so whatever method we use will have to allow for something fairly weighty to be mounted onto it. Many thanks for any suggestions/advice.

Zairean, you seem to be trying to build up the front of the drive -is this to give privacy to the house or make it more imposing from the road? Your drive does not have enough slope to warrant the expense of the sleepers and raised beds. You will have the drive area behind the raised beds lower than the beds. The beds will become very dry in the summer and you may have difficulty maintaining plants without irrigation. Another issue I see is the current parking on your cars. There will be less available parking as you will need a turning circle to be able to enter the highway forward facing. Also when awaiting to move into the road your car may be in a blind spot in your design and you may have difficulty pulling out. You idea to achieve privacy or make the house more separate or more opposing from the road could be achieved by planting. You could use your sleepers to make an edging with the road and create layers of planting. Your current dropped kerb on the road shows a good width of turning space for pulling in to your house from both directions - your design will narrow this width.

Beautiful room, and yes that does look like a unique fire surround. If you want a blue in the De Nimes sort of area but with less grey in it, Stone Blue might work for you. But personally I'd be tempted to go darker, eg Hague Blue, Scotch Blue (on the F&B Colour by Nature chart, I think) or Inchyra Blue (just sticking to the F&B chart as I know it well but of course there are lots of other gorgeous deep blues out there). Looks like the room could handle it - perhaps with a large beautiful Persian rug with navy and red tones on the floor (sorry but I think your current rug is too small - though perhaps it's just a radiator holder!). Would be very cosy and I think a dark blue would complement the honey tones of the wood very well.

I agree that the kitchen units are in such good condition that it would be a shame to part ways with them. I suspect it is the 'matchyness' (if there is such a word) of the splashback tiles and the floor that is working against the classic units. Would you consider going darker with the floor? Am thinking slate effect type surface. You could then achieve a lighter, but i'm afraid not a white, but as close to white as possible wall color without making the units look too creamy/yellow.
