1500mm wide x 650mm height bathroom mirror

Hi we are looking for a bathroom mirror 1500mm wide x 650mm (thereabouts) mirror with a demister pad and ambient lighting (no LED lights on the front of the mirror). Any ideas where we might source one or independent people who produce these? We have looked at all the main suppliers like HIB, Roper Rhodes, Kholer, Crosswater. Thx

If you're just looking for a mirror of a specific size with a demister pad, you'd probably do best by just ordering a mirror from a local glass merchant and ordering a demister pad separately. For bathroom mirrors, we normally specify 6mm toughened glass (for safety) and a foil backing (against damage to the silvering from condensation or water around the edges).

Many thanks Dale Loth Architects. Any idea who sells reputable demister pads and the size we should get? Quite a few sell them on line but keen to get a good one. Sorry dumb question but how do I get foil backing onto the mirror back? Is this something a glass/mirror cutter provides/can do? And how would you suggest we attach to glass tiles. I understand there needs to be space between the tiles and the mirror. Would you suggest a frame say 1000mm x500mm with demister pad inside? That's what we were thinking. Again any suggestions from any Professionals much appreciated.

based on the feedback i've changed the plans to what i have below, essentially they're mostly mirror images of each other with the only difference one has a walk-in shower and the other a bath. I've moved the wall so that a standard 1.7m bath can fit in the bathroom. The ensuite still works as a smaller room I think although I probably will have to reconsider the door (either pocket door our swinging outwards). Any more ideas are welcome. Also any recommendation on where to buy sanitaryware etc? Got a quote today from the bath store but would like to see other (mid range) prices, any recommendations? Thanks

Hi. Hopefully the pros will have some ideas but the layout seems a bit tricky re the width, the soil pipe and presumably you want a mirror over the vanity?! It might work with the bath at the opposite end of the room to where it is now and then encase shower and bath behind glass as per pic. Have the loo between the windows but hopefully there's some room for manoeuvre so it can move left a little and have the vanity where the bath currently is. It does mean you're facing the loo as you walk in though :( I might consider a smaller mirror over the vanity with lights and then what's left of the wall on the bedroom door side you could mirror to make it feel wider. Antiqued mirror could look great depending on what other materials you use . What style is the bedroom?

Switching the sink and loo seems a good idea to give you a fantastic vanity area with storage above to reduce the clutter. Since your entrance door is angled it won’t be the first thing seen on entry. Your idea of removing the air vent from the window - what is the plan for it’s replacement? It’s doing an important job of dehumidifying the room and a replacement will be required to maintain the pristine ceiling and grout! We recently refurbished a downstairs loo - lots of fantastic independent bathroom showrooms here in Hertfordshire. We had amazing ideas suggested to us ( some with amazing prices). We used the concepts from the very expensive design ideas with slightly less pricey option. We would not have thought of these ideas without the help of the experts, and they identified snags in our initial design that would affect the surface lines and finish that we didn’t know existed!

Tall and narrow mirrors tend to emphasis a rooms small size though would be seen as a logical choice in a small space. While on a large bare wall it could get lost. If you have a double sink however having two over each sink on a large wall would look pretty cool. Especially the LED one. In small bathrooms you need to decide are you going for a cozy feel, with darker matt colours, or a lighter calmer feel. A small mirror is fine if you are going for a small cozy but stylish bathroom. Otherwise consider using larger or even a wall to wall mirror on the sink wall to create an illusion of space.

We've recently used demisters from mirror-heaters.co.uk which seem fine. They advise on sizes. Most glass merchants can apply self-adhesive foil backing. I'm afraid your questions about framing and fixing require more detailed knowledge of exact circumstances than would be appropriate to go into here. We normally attach mirrors direct to a suitable wall surface - either rendered, plywood, or Wedi-board. Gluing to a plaster / plasterboard surface or to tiling on a plastered surface is not a good idea, since the gypsum in it can be affected by moisture.

A demista pad of 1050 x 524 would give good coverage on this mirror, the mirrors can be cut to size and backed for adhesive fixing - they can also be drilled to suit your choice of light fittings so shouldn't be too much of a problem to source
