Which countries do you look to for design inspiration?
Comments (27)I loom at Turkish design. There is a brilliant house that is 150 years old opposite our apartment that our friends used to own. On the outside its about 3 stories tall with a roof terrace with a pool. Inside it has a balcony in the middle of it so when you are on the terrace you can look down to the ground floor. It is super-modern inside and he could control practically his whole house my his iphone - from air con to lights! Whenever I am refurbishing my house i always think back to his house....See MorePOLL: Do you use the Houzz desktop or app more?
Comments (38)I use both. That said the desktop site is far far superior to the iphone app. I preferred the app before the update, as cavgirl said, going straight to 'latest' was much better. The app also regularly crashes and if you accidentally swipe left or right when reading an article it'll go to a previous page with no easy way to get back to what I was reading. If I wanted it to do that I'd just press the back button! One final irritant is that when using the app to write a comment on a discussion the text box takes up the whole screen so you can't swipe up again to read earlier comments/names which you want to make reference too. I did suggest some time ago I would personally love to be able to organise the discussions section by chronological order rather than just recent activity. It feels like some things just get lost because no-one comments for a day so it doesnt get seen for long. Then other times someone comments on an ancient discussion without realising and its top of the pile! Anyway, I do feel I should say I love the unique forum here and you guys do a great job! Sorry about the rant :)....See MoreGarden Design/Using a designer
Comments (5)I always agree a written brief with clients before embarking on the design process and where possible provide some examples of gardens you or like or similarly don’t like, to help the designer build up a picture of what you are seeking to achieve. It’s important to choose a designer whose style you associate with and admire in order to get a best fit from the design process. Good communication between all parties is key throughout the process so I’d encourage an open discussion and hopefully your designer can respond positively to your comments....See MoreDoubts about kitchen design - what do you think?
Comments (9)It kind of looks unfinished without the wall units IMO so I would keep them. Personally with a modern kitchen I’m not keen on extractors behind doors but that might just be the design and you’re having a chimney as on the amended plan. The only thing I would say is having had a boiling water tap fitted a couple of months ago in my kitchen you only get to use half of the cupboard space underneath because of the filter and tank so don’t expect to store a huge amount in this unit. I’ve had to offload half of mine into another cupboard. Thankfully I had the space....See MoreAnita Brown 3D Visualisation
