I just love the texture and color of the walls! Could you please tell me the maker of the grass cloth and color too? Thank you!

Hi. I feel your pain! These traditional ones are the best: You can leave stuff on them and pull them up with the ropes so they are out of the way, provided you have high enough ceilings. There is also this one that attaches between two walls but then doesn't look like much when it is put away. The Victorian traditional one will last forever, it is just a matter of whether you a place where you like the look of it when it does and doesn't have clothes on it. Good luck!

Hi Danny, I understand your issue with dog mud on cream carpets. I've had dogs all my life. We've also always had cream carpets which, in my eyes, is a ridiculous idea for my family because if it's not the muddy dog ruining the carpet, it's a family member spilling tea and coffee! It seems like you want less hassle/less cleaning. Honestly? Get an easily cleanable floor. If you think the muddy dog is the issue, just wait until your child is moving and throwing food/being sick/god knows what! Tony's images are great - it seems like covering the pond might be a great opportunity to make this a "dog" area. I can see a small path on the left hand side of your garden, maybe you could widen this and have it leading towards an area with bark/grass. I definitely wouldn't recommend letting your dog do its business on the decking. Not only will it damage the wood, but it's an area where everyone will walk, so stepping in poo is inevitable! As a quick fix for the mud on carpets - pop some old towels on the floor near the entrance to the garden. Every time your dog comes in with muddy paws, use the towel to wipe off the excess mud. As for the poo, where ever your dog poos it will need to be picked up, so no fix for this! From experience, my dogs have always found an area in the garden they like to poo in. We just keep checking it every now and then. I have to admit, it seems a little sad to think the dog wouldn't mix with the family in the garden, as my childhood was so enjoyed having our dog in the garden with us. But this is YOUR house, and whatever works best for you is the answer. Good luck/let us know what you decided.

Thanks for the suggestion mgm17, I wasn't sure what a Pullymaid was so googled it. I had considered an overhead airer but struggled to find a place for it. What I did find on their website was what they call a Beadboard Drying Rack http://pulleymaid.com/beedboard_rack.htm They are expensive but my son-in-law does good woodwork and could probably make me one! That started me looking at other pull out wall mounted type airers so I feel I'm on my way to a solution :-) Thanks again, Rose

Hi I know not many have fake grass but it's becoming a really good option. Aesthetically it looks like grass but you don't have to worry about muddy patches, shady areas or cutting it. It does of course require some maintenance and needs to be laid on a good base. I actually wouldn't be so quick to level the garden out, having a step up makes the eye go upwards towards the sky. The area in front of the windows could be paved, gravelled or lay decking squares across it. The boundary walls are lovely and could easily have some climbers on them, using tensioned wires, helping to highlight this feature yet provide more green without making deep planting beds. The tree at the back is possibly a bay tree and might be worth keeping as it gives something of height and structure as long as it's in good condition. Mature trees can be costly so worth keeping it possible. Hope that helps!
