Laminated behind or I between glass?

Hello, love the splash back. Has it been put straight on to the wall with glass infront, or was it fixed somehow to glass with glass on top?
Would love details and try it myself!

we can assist you if you are in the UK on laminating a special fabric interlayer or there is a special interlayer that has no pixels and can replicate anything you wish for.

I am planning to do this. I have oilcloth, the toughened glass is on order with 4 screwholes in the corners. Like piaridgeway I am wondering how to fix onto the wall. Did you pva glue the oilcloth to the wall or maybe use double sided tape to attach? This is such a cracking and affordable idea, hoping to fix in such a way, I can easily change it too. Hope to hear from you, Annie

@kikamack, many thanks for your thoughts. My kitchen layout was just a quick one - it's not finalised but the fridge/freezer would go with the tall oven unit is and I would probably just have the oven underneath the hob instead for ease. We didn't want high wall units as we want to go for a more Industrial style and less kitchen looking. We are considering a peninsula depending on the outside door location though. Re the plan - we are looking to add perhaps an extra wc downstairs & making a wider hall, but, after having spent a full day/evening yesterday going through all different options ie kitchen in the dining room, we decided that we really prefer the lounge in that section as I have it on the plan with the larger bathroom. Main reasons being:- we don't have to remove the chimney breast, we still have access to all the storage space under the stairs (not shown on the pic) and it means we can have 2 sides of windows/doors at the back if the dining table is there (which we couldn't if it was the living area due to needing space for a log burner and tv wall) which will overlook a wrap around garden. We have an entire house to pretty much rebuild (needs a new roof, upstairs all re-doing as not insulated and a new bathroom/dressing room) plus gardens to landscape and the outbuilding renovating to use as a home office/granny flat. Phew. So we need to do the least disruptive amount of work to gain the best plan for us. I quite like the kitchen idea of in the dining space but my husband hates it and he rarely hates things so I don't want to push him on it

Hi Tani, I have an ikea kitchen. I wanted wood doors and nothing traditional and ikea did oak doors that I liked. What swung it for me was reading about how many architects use ikea. One thing I know is that they use very good designers, so their stuff tends to be 'clever'. You do have to construct the carcasses and some fitters don't like this. What is good is that the carcasses hang off a steel rail. This is attached to the wall and then all of the cupboards hang in a straight line and then the feet are adjusted at the front. My carpenter adjusted my units as he was fitting them, even reducing the depth at times, so the whole thing was bespoke. The other thing is that they are much bigger. They go much nearer to the floor and the kick plates are virtually invisible, this looks more contemporary. They are deeper to so you can't get a standard off the shelf worktop. I paid the same for the fitting as the cost of the units, in my opinion it's all about the fitting. Most carpenter use Howdens as they have accounts and it's familiar to them. I also saved money by using a thin layer of quartz over moisture resistant MDF (a bit like an engineered floor). Whole thing was 16K including removing a load bearing wall, plastering, electrics, kitchen everything.

We had a teeny upstand put on as I was going to put a metallic splashback across the whole of the back run. I ended up just painting it in a kitchen washable paint BUT it’s a nightmare! The tap is powerful and also a hot water tap and it splashes and leave marks on the paint (it is a dark paint so not the easiest to hide marks to be fair) and so I will plan to have some sort of easy wipe upstand put on at least 12” high now. Painted the damn thing about 4 times now, lol.

your floor choice will work great :) i have ufh in new build with air source heatpump and 21mm thick engineered wood floor (probably only carpet and solid wood would be considered less effective) and it is great, id make same choice again. i have ceramic tiles in 2 bathrooms and it definitely conducts heat better, lovely and warm underfoot when heating is running but as others have said its cooler the rest of the time. the remainder of the house just has a lovely even heat. its also very cost effective,i pay same in 4 bed, 2 bath house as i did in a previous 2 bed house (which was also new build but storage heaters). please forgive the lack of punctuation and poor sentences, this is my third attemp at posting a reply and ive lost patience writing the same thing!
