What can I do to improve the kitchen? It's a new build property, the kitchen is obviously brand new so obviously won't be replacing the units or tiles buts very basic looking atm, need ideas please!

Hi. Assuming you're not putting an extractor in you could add shelves between the wall units and accessorise. As you've already got a feature wall and the boiler is white I would probably leave the walls as they are. I would remove anything from the boiler as its drawing attention to it. I'm sure the safety sticker thing can go on the side?? I'd add art over the dining table, something with some colour and flowers on the table, fresh or good faux. A potted herb/s for the worktop and then a couple of accessories either with colour or texture, fruit bowl, pestle and mortar. Glass jars with cork lids filled with pasta etc can also look good and homely and I'd remove anything bar the kettle and toaster from the side. A marble and wood chopping board could also look nice but just add a few practical things that also look nice!

I had polished porcelain tiles and they were a nightmare. Beautiful and reflective and made the space look big, but it was like walking on glass. Every single footprint and mark made them look grubby. Even the man in the tile shop laughed and said 'oh yes, everyone comes back and complains about them'. I would put in some kind of characterful wood and maybe paint the skirtings to avoid the 'too much wood' look.

Sent the question in two parts as wanted to attach 8 pictures. Hi! I've recently purchased a new build property that comes with limited kitchen options. I'm having big problems regarding what to choose. Help!! I usually go for the shaker / country style but struggling with the options (they only showed us the drawers I'm afraid). Any ideas for combinations?? Worktops, flooring, walls, cabinets. I've attached house details (including a picture of the house kitchen on another site) on this question and some of the kitchen choices and will send the other options on a separate question. Yes of course, however I haven't got any on the computer I am currently on. I will make sure to upload some as soon as possible, and I would like the majority of rooms on the ground floor especially to be facing the back of the house, where I find the views are best. And that would be extremely helpful thank you! And no it does not include the plot, I'm aware the budget is rather broad however we are very flexible and I'm still debating on the size of the house, and yes I will do. And yes, very much so, however, good luck with your new home!

Like in a lot of new builds, this is a pretty neutral kitchen. You need some colour! I recently used Paper & Paint Library's Greenback on the walls of a kitchen with units like yours, it's a lovely natural shade of green that works brilliantly with neutral wood-effect units and has a unity with plants and wood accessories (bamboo is nice, and sustainable).

Thanks so much for the advice, even the little things like plants and taking the stuff off of the boiler.

Going to make a start tomorrow and soooooo need help with my lounge too!
