Help! Mixer tap for bathroom sink.

We currently have two taps on our bathroom sink which is driving us crazy. We want a mixer tap but we like the sink and the vanity unit has been built around the original sink. So changing the sink would involve changing and rebuilding a vanity unit which we like and is in a great condition. However, we cannot seem to find a mixer tap which is for two holes but has one "spout" like one has for a bath. Can anyone give us some ideas for getting the mixer tap we want having to change the sink and unit which seems really wasteful. Thank you, Lovely people.

Morning,

Im not sure of the style you are looking for or the space you have between the holes in your basin but I have used a few of these details to try & maintain original features.

You can either have a standard detail or have one as a spout & the other a control, this all depends on the accessible space you have under the sink for a mixing block.

Burlington & bristan have a few two hole basin mixers, maybe have a look on their web pages but you will have to check the size between your taps ATM.

Our sinks were built in, but their cabinets were low and bending hurt my back. I determined the cabinets could be raised by adding a horizontal board just above the place at bottom that is indented for your toes. It added about five inches, bringing the counters up to the height of our kitchen counters. The board was stained to match the cabinet and is right under where the cabinet doors open. The line of the board is hidden by a length of wood trim. This raising up did require adding pipe to the water lines under the sinks to fill the pipe gap; moving the very large mirrors (no breaks or chips!) upward and moving the lighting above the mirrors up, as well. Took one day of work by carpenter and helper. Well worth the cost.

Hello dbferdi, There are a few links that you could take a look at to see if there are any that you like..... Thanks all. 1. A carpenter/fitter is coming around on Sat for the kitchen - I'll ask him for a quote for this too. In the meantime, I've been googling/thinking, and saw this from IKEA: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/fullen-wash-basin-cabinet-white-art-70189041/ (& pale green countertop: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/viskan-countertop-pale-green-art-70354804) I just need to remove a slice of the base at the rear for it to be level with the top of the basin. Hope that doesn't look weird. 2. Will paint the door frame - satinwood or similar. Easy one, that. :) 3./4. Will look at the navy/teal/dark grey wallpapers and paint. I think a combination of them may look really good. Have requested some samples - just waiting for them to arrive now! Great. Can't wait to get going now.

I've been waiting for someone to ask me this :-) I think your first idea is a good one. You could go one of two routes: 1. part tile in white satin ceramic and edge with chrome or satin strip or a pencil tile - something from Original Style Glassworks range would look great but they are pricey- then paint two walls in a strong but not saturated blue toned grey: something like F&B Hardwick White or Little Greene's Urbane Grey and Inox - if possible get two shades on the walls. For the floor I would go with a grey and white lino check and accessorise as you've suggested - I would steer clear of anything orange that is going to accentuate the orange tone in the suite but ochre tones would work, for example macrame plant hangers. I would stick to chrome and satin nickel. Choose an off white for any woodwork - Flake White has a very slight hint of brown which would balance the champagne without you being conscious of it. 2. Again use white satin tiles and edge with chrome or satin nickel strip or a glass pencil tile but this time "lose" the champagne tone among other neutrals as you've suggested: from the Fired Earth colour card, shades like Canvas, White Ochre, Old White, Papyrus and again Flake white would work well. Again a grey and white check would work for the floor or even this wood effect, which picks up the brown tones. Accessorise with dark blue/grey accents and plenty of greenery. I always advise use of a sample board. Play about with paint samples. We sell painted A4 sheets for £1 each plus postage - cheaper than tester pots and more effective. If the different elements work together on the board, they will work in the room. Alternatively we offer sample boards to buy or hire - £30 or £15 respectively. Each board includes a range of compatible samples which you then pick and mix, eliminating what you don't like until you arrive at the scheme you want. Good luck!

a quick google of Burlington Taps comes up with this: https://www.burlingtonbathrooms.com/taps/basin-taps. Page 3 has quite a few that are really lovely. They’re very traditional though - so it would depend on your style.
