Help me choose a color for floating shelf please!

Hi all,
In the red marked area of the photo we will install costume made floating shelf's but I am uncertain of what color / colors I should choose for the shelves ! They will be made out of wood and can be painted. I want it to be versatile if I decide to change cushion colors or similar in the future but the color we choose must go with many other colors and must look nice with the color of the fireplace.
Please help ;-)

Comments (8)What other furniture will you be putting in the room. Everything has to Gel. So, are you going for Scandi, as the tables above would imply? It's a great high ceiling traditional room. The barn door implies traditional, and I think also the oak parquet and the tiles. Maybe a scandi table and chairs won't sit right with that? Maybe it would, it all depends on what else you want with it. I think i'm imagining more of an oak plank table, straight lines and possibly with the legs painted to match the kitchen. Comments (3)There are some beautiful orange/red Persian rugs for sale but they are pretty pricey as they are hand knotted and take months to create. However there are some rather nice faux Persian rugs available now that mimic the real thing very well. As they are very on trend, many homeware shops sell them now like Next, Dunelm and even The Range (last pic). John Lewis sell some lovely rugs from contemporary to traditional.
