MIRROR FEATURE ABOVE SIDEBOARD

Hello,

I would very much appreciate some advice on the above.

I would like to make a mirror feature above the sideboard and would like some advice on following:-

1. I want to use wood as the background and then apply mirror over the top. Which wood would be the best to use. either MDF or Plywood? Also, which adhesive would be the best to use, to apply mirror to wood, or would I need to apply and prep the wood first?

2. I want to make some shelving and then apply mirror all around. Would you advise me to use plywood again or something lighter?

3. I would need to stick the shelving to the mirror. What adhesive would you advise to use?

4. I will also be applying a mirror tile on top of the background mirror, in some areas, again, what would be the best adhesive to use to stick mirror tiles onto mirror?

Hello Your design looks great, Have you thought about a sideboards or console table, gives you some storage space and will break up the wall you can then hang mirrors or photos higher up to cover more of the wall. Using different sizes of items such as lamps or candles will help to change the perception of the size of the wall. I think it would be such a shame to change the style of the mirror. It's period correct, it fits the style of the room, it's correct for the style and age of the fireplace. Why would you replace it with a modern round one? The armchair is correct style for the room in age I agree that the only thing wrong with it is the tone of colour, it matches nothing. Move it up slightly and balance the size of the objects around it. Please, please don't change it for a modern round one..................it's a crime against 'periodness'!! ....................

It's a big item of furniture, so i think you need to go full width with the mirror so that they look like they belong together. Or, turn the mirror lengthwise, instead of a plant, have a tall umbrella stand and have the artwork over the sideboard. I rather like this one more.

Rectangular will create a pattern and repetition because of the TV. Circular will be a feature since it will not match the other rectangular shapes. If you go for circular, you can match it with other circular decorations as a focus point. Rectangular will create repetition and if you choose the frame well, it can support the focus point. It is all about what do you want as the main focus in the room. Good luck :)
