Need help with window design, have just 24 hours to decide
Comments (6)Thank you very much Rebecca, Jonathan, AS and Bath Bespoke for your comments, v kind of you. I have attached a picture with the window design I am now actively considering for the non bay windows. I thought this may be a good option since it will maximise the views from the inside. I don't know what the name of this type of window is but it is a solid pane with two fanlights above. Do you think this could be a solution? I am hoping it will blend in with the bays? As for the rendering, I am still undecided whether this will look ok with this style of chalet bungalow, at times I think the brickwork looks good and other times I wonder if it is dated! I think I may have to play it safe with white windows........See MoreWindow seat or no window seat?
Comments (16)Thanks for that:- I think a few things need a tweak. I don't think there's enough room for patio doors and the window seat. As you have a side garden, i'd consider two sets of patio doors. As the main garden is to the rear, i'd put in a window between bank units and island. I would not put windows in the dining room, as I think it spoils the walls. If there are windows there currently, i'd even consider bricking them up. I'd like to know where the current Utility comes to, as maybe that impacts the possibility of the window between cabinets and hob....See MoreHelp needed with design of replacement windows and door
Comments (2)Have you thought about aluclad windows? I didnt know anything about them until I started looking into them. I dont want UPVC. Aluminium is too expensive so we are going with aluclad. Aluminium on the outside, painted softwood inside. Can have varnished softwood inside if preferred. I have chosen Rational windows because they do a true flush casement, traditional style window profile which suits our house. They also do a contemporary profile. Other companies to consider are Ideal Combi, Nordan, Internorm and Velfac. Price wise, quotes came in cheaper than the most expensive UPVC windows eg. Residence 7. They were also cheaper than aluminium windows....See Morebay window seat storage help!
