Colour problems :(
Comments (7)Google Sheridan Chroma duvet cover. I bought this for my sons room, it's bright cobalt blue and a real focal point. The walls are white with one wall painted a stone colour. It works and the duvet cover can be changed accordingly. I would avoid brightly coloured walls, teenage bedrooms have enough going on, a bit of calm may be a good thing....See MoreDark grey feature wall - help & opinions
Comments (23)If you are considering going down the dark grey routes, have a look at the paint range by Paint Library or Little Greene Paint Company rather than Farrow and Ball. They both have a much broader range of greys to choose from and you will be able to find a grey with an undertone that works with the rest of your scheme. You can order the colours charts from their websites or from http://www.designerpaint.com/ As you have a brown sofa I would look towards a grey that has some softness from a touch of brown in it. A personal favourite is Paint Library's Monument. It comes out much darker than the colour on their website, but has a softness that I don't think Downpipe does. Also look at Little Greene's French Grey. Having said all that, I think Dabrovska Design's idea of picking up on the jadey green you have in your room from your cushions is lovely. As for where to put the colour, I think the composition of your sideboard would benefit from a strong colour behind it. However, your sofa also looks a bit lost on the pale wall. You could solve all of this through a tonal scheme...the very dark behind the sideboard and the rest of the walls in the palest version of the same colour. Again both Paint Library and Little Greene do 'colour scale' which make these choices very easy for you. You clearly love styling, so I am sure once you pick a couple of new wall colours you will have no trouble tying the whole space together very well....See MoreDecorating advice needed....
Comments (25)Hi Paul, I like most of what AJ Styling has recommended. Additionally, you need to create a clear, dominant focal point in the room and this would ideally start with the mirror above the fireplace. Also, the furniture/TV arrangement is the main thing you need to tackle. Try the two matching sofas opposite each other and much nearer to the centre of the room, in a symmetrical arrangement with the fireplace. Without seeing a scaled plan it's hard to judge if these fit comfortably. (Avoid placing furniture all around the walls.) Consider buying a large rug. The TV is already too high from what I can see so this can be moved to the opposite wall and placed lower so that it is viewed comfortably at eye level from a seated position. Lighting is also a factor and a couple of table lamps would definitely benefit the space. Sarah...See MoreHelp please. Kitchen wall colour
Comments (13)I would use Farrow and Ball slipper Satin looking at your room and the cupboard colours and the floor colour all round. Will give you warmth, will be more modern than what you have as has a grey in it (but a very warm grey, not strong at all, a creamy greeny light grey depending on time of day), and won’t be harsh like the 3 colours you chose, they are very very strong and you may regret it. I hate to be a spoilsport but everyone I know who wanted to be different and used a very dark wall or colour on a normal semi style house ended up regretting and repainting. Slipper satin will look just right in my opinion being both safe but dark enough. Unless you had windows on 2 sides I wouldn’t go dark anywhere. Also, keep the window areas whiter, not bright white (that has blue in it), just regular white. Just my humble opinion based on looking at hundreds of show homes (and still not being happy with any) lol......See More- 7 years ago
