Should I paint the pantry doors white?

I've been undecided about how to refinish all of the wood doors in our house. I love the look of dark chocolate brown doors with white trim, and someday I may try to take on the task of removing varnish and stain from every door to give a new look. (That task doesn't sound too appealing, does it?!)
I just painted my kitchen cabinets. Now that they are brighter, I am thinking of just painting the pantry doors white instead of treating them the same as the regular doors in the house.

(The door in the background is a "regular door" that someday may get the chocolate brown treatment)

I think it would help unify the pantry with the kitchen if you painted the doors white, instead of leaving them like the others doors of the house. Alternatively, it might look good if you painted the doors the color of the lower cabinets if you don't want to paint it white.

You aren't necessarily going to gain extra space to store more bottles. Because you aren't changing the overall volume. Depending how handy you are. One option is to cut two sheets of material to the size of the opening, width and height - so it looks like you have two doors. Then use a hole saw, 75mm, too drill as many holes as you can get in the board leaving enough room between holes to keep structural integrity. Repeat in the second board with the same spacing or secure both boards together, temporarily and drill both sets of holes together. Finally install 4 spacer blocks to create the depth required to support the neck and base of the bottle. Fill holes and paint to your desired colour. The boards should look like a piece of Swiss cheese when finished. Well it won't but you hopefully get the principle. Hope that helps.

Look at the gadgets and storage items you intend to keep in there and draw the walls to scale and configure shelving to suit the heights and depths of what you need to store. Remember the allow for the shelf thickness and the bracket or support etc too . Things like mixers and juicers could be kept ready to use at an optimum height ( ie you don't want to be stretching up or bending down to use them ) light weight things like cereals could be kept up high. Heavy items mid to low. Baskets with all your baking things could be stored together to make it easy to lift one basket into your kitchen to use etc ? Allow relatively easy access to view meters etc ! Take your time and keep ticking off things you've allowed for on the drawing ! You'll get there eventually !!

I'm sorry I haven't got any pictures at present as it's just in the planning stages. It's currently just a wall and an imagination haha. How much space will you have for yours? I'm looking at something like this for the inside set up so there's some worksurface strong enough for microwave/toasted etc and not just shelves.

A bit hard to tell from such a close up shot. They could be really pretty left wood but not sure if they would "fit" into your design because I only see a close up.

Painting them white would bring more unity to the space, BUT, are the pantry doors the same wood as the painted cabinets? If the pantry doors are more porous or grained, the paint won't be smooth and then they won't 'match' and won't look right.

Good point! My kitchen is still a work in progress, so I wasn't sure I wanted to photograph the entire kitchen! Haha
These photos are taken from further back, and show the wood double doors that go into the great room (the trim needs to be painted white at those doors!).
For now, the almond colored appliances are staying, but we may change them soon. Light fixtures are on order!

I would paint them to match the cabinets, for sure. I know appliances can't always be easily replaced, but keep it as a priority as time/budget allow.

I think the wood could be fabulous. I guess I am the lone dissenter. If you have wood accents..bread bowl, cutting boards, even a bit of wood in your lights...it would tie them together. Start with the pantry door refinish, get the nice wood tone you are looking for the rest of your doors, if it doesn't work out paint the puppy!

If all your cabinets were white, I would say keep the wood. Since your cabinets are two-toned, I think the pantry doors should white.

This is just a thought if you like kitchen chalkboards. A friend of mine did it with her pantry door. The door is painted the same as the cabinets, and she had a large section of it done as a chalk board. In your case I would probably do the two large rectangular sections above the knobs. It might also tie in nicely with your microwave door.
